Linda Torres, ‘Big Ang’ star dies at 67 after battling COVID-19 for nine weeks

Linda Torres, who was frequently seen on “Big Ang” and “Mob Wives,” died Thursday from COVID-19 complications at Staten Island University Hospital in New York. She was 67.

Torres was Angela “Big Ang” Raiola’s friend and was diagnosed with COVID-19 nine weeks ago, Raiola’s sister Janine Detore told USA TODAY.

“She had double pneumonia COVID,” Detore said. “She fought the fight, I gotta tell you that.”

Detore said she and Torres’ daughter were expecting her to pull through because “you see a strong woman always. We didn’t really think this was going to end this way.”

Detore said she has fond memories of her friend, who was always the life of the party, and described her as always positive and fun. She added it was meaningful that  Torres died on April Fool’s Day and Holy Thursday.

“It was funny because Linda always had that good sense of humor … it just seems so fitting for Linda,” Detore said.

Raiola’s sister also paid tribute to Torres on Instagram.

“Rest In Peace my friend ♥️ you’ll be missed ? your bday was in between me & Angela you were our family .. we love you always,” she captioned a photo of Torres. “Angela take care of @blondelindavh1.”

Raiola, the reality star that the “Big Ang” reality series was based on died in 2016 at 55 after a battle with throat cancer.

She was diagnosed in March 2015 with throat cancer that later spread to her brain and lung. When she revealed the news to her fans via Facebook, she encouraged them to take charge of their own personal health.
