Line of Duty's Vicky McClure shows off her impressive football skills

Mother of God! Line of Duty star Vicky McClure shows off her impressive ball skills by performing an ‘Ardiles flick’ during a break in filming of new drama Trigger Point

If her beloved Notts County ever need a new star player to add some flair in attack, it looks as if Vicky McClure could easily fit the bill.

The 38-year-old Line Of Duty actress was pictured showing off enviable ball skills during a break in filming her new high-octane drama, Trigger Point.

At one point she impressed her co-stars by performing an Ardiles flick – named after former Spurs and Argentina star Ossie Ardiles, who popularised the intricate skill in the 1970s.

The ITV show sees Vicky team up again with Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio as she takes on the role of bomb disposal officer Lana Washington.

Filming was taking place last week at a West London park, with an onlooker telling The Mail on Sunday: ‘The cast and crew started an impromptu kick-about after they had finished a very dramatic scene.

‘Vicky definitely looked like she had kicked a ball before – she had some impressive moves.’

Vicky inherited her love of football from her D-Day hero grandfather, Ralph McClure, and is an avid fan of Notts County, known as the Magpies for their distinctive black and white home kit.

She recently told The Times about the football loyalties that divide her family in Nottingham. ‘My dad and sister are Forest – me and my mum are County.

‘I’m County because of my granddad. He’s supported them since he was a boy. He’s 96 and still went to games before the pandemic.

‘I think it’s because I like an underdog. County have always felt like the other team here, especially since Brian Clough’s time at Forest.’

But there is also another team that has captured her heart – she and Welsh fiance Jonny Owen sponsor non-league side Merthyr Town.

Vicky is set to play a bomb disposal officer called Lana in Trigger Point.

The new drama will focus on counter terrorism policing and the extraordinary work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.
