BBC Breakfast hosts Louise Minchin, 52, and Dan Walker, 44, recently took part in an ice challenge on the news programme in a bid to raise awareness for motor neurone disease. The TV anchor took to social media ahead of the Breakfast show, as Louise confessed that she was apprehensive about taking part.

The presenting duo were tasked with putting their feet in a bucket of ice cold water for 92 seconds, but Dan couldn’t keep up with the challenge.

The former Football Focus host let out a loud shriek during the ice bucket foot task.

Dan yelped: “It’s zero degrees and I’m absolutely shivering.”

In view of her 204,000 followers, Louise retweeted a post from the motor neurone disease (MND) charity, which read: “The stage is set for @mrdanwalker & @louiseminchin to do their #IceFoot92 challenges shortly on #BBCBreakfast Television.

“Watch as they join former #Rovers #Swans #twitterClarets footballer @LJohnrose in supporting @mndassoc & raising awareness of motor neurone disease #MND.”

Louise humorously captioned the post: “I am getting cold feet.”

Social media users flocked to comment on the post, as many people mocked her colleague Dan over his struggles to get through the challenge.

One wrote: “Well done @louiseminchin. You sailed through the challenge unlike @mrdanwalker who bailed out early. Second go for Dan?”

Another commented: “You smashed it Louise and carried Dan over the line. Well done!”

“Saw Dan do it but he’s not you Louise… Hoping it went well!” a third person commented.

While a fourth wrote: “At least you stayed in for the full 92 seconds – and longer.”

When Louise took on the challenge she appeared relatively calm, as the presenter is often used to swimming in freezing temperatures as a triathlete.

With her feet in the ice bucket, Louise murmured: “Dan sat here and he made quite a fuss about it, didn’t he?

“I had a recently broken foot so this helps.”

It was then revealed that her co-star Dan didn’t actually fulfill his obligation to complete the full 92 seconds.

Referee Dean commented: “We have looked at the footage and it looks like his foot came out of the bucket half a second too early.

“So we thought if you [Louise] do an extra second that will make up for Dan.”

The Breakfast host then urged her colleague to return and have another try at the ice bucket challenge, which he declined.

The new fundraising campaign was set up by former footballer Len Johnrose to raise money for MND research.

Inspired by the success of the Ice Bucket challenge, Len has come up with his #IceFoot92 challenge in which he hopes will become a new viral fundraising sensation.
