Luca Bish says he’s glad ‘this week is over’ after shock Gemma split

Love Island's Luca Bish says he's "glad this week is over" after splitting from show co-star Gemma Owen.

The 23 year old took to Instagram to post a moody selfie as he made the revelation while thanking his fans for their support.

The former fishmonger could be seen lying on a sofa wearing a black hoody with the hood half pulled up as he held a finger to his temple and stared into the camera whilst looking unhappy and pensive

Some of Luca's Love Island pals rushed to the comments section to show their support for him, with Jacques O'Neill commenting: "My brother always got you," followed by a red love heart emoji.

Andrew Le Page, who is loved up with Tasha Ghouri, wrote: "Get up to London soon brother x

Dami Hope – still with his Love Island girlfriend Indiyah Polack – commented: "Luca Bish has entered the chat let’s f*ckin ave itttt"

Gemma, the 19 year old daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen, took to Instagram to announce the split this week.

She wrote: "To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now."

Gemma went on: "Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters."

Luca released his own statement posted to his Instagram Story, which read: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup."

The star went on to say he would have liked "some time" to process the decision "privately" after he and Gemma mutually chose to go their "separate ways" earlier in the day.

"We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure," the star said.

Their split might have come as a surprise to many of their fans, after they were seen enjoying a holiday to Dubai with Gemma's family, including dad Michael, just a few weeks ago.

It now seems that the trip must have been a make-or-break, and Gemma is said to have made the decision to split with Luca after "nothing changed".

The source told OK!: “It was Gemma who ended things. Things had been rocky for weeks and the split didn’t come as a shock.

"It had been going on for weeks and they had brushed over things and then they went to Dubai and nothing really changed so things came to an end."
