‘I was like the face of Bumble!’ MAFS’ Jules Robinson laments fruitless 14 year hunt for love in the UK… as Holly Willoughby fangirls over the Oz star and her husband Cam on This Morning
Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant were undoubtedly the loved-up success story of Married At First Sight Australia’s sixth season.
And following the show’s rip-roaring success in the UK after its original screening Down Under in 2019, the couple appeared on This Morning on Thursday to chat to mega-fan Holly Willoughby and her co-host Phillip Schofield.
As the blonde beauty, 40, fangirled over the pair, Jules, 38, revealed that she had searched for love during her 14 years in the UK yet grew tired of relentlessly looking on dating apps before taking part in the series and meeting Cam, 37.

Jules and Cameron met on season six of Nine’s controversial social experiment, which was filmed in late 2018 and aired in Australia in early 2019, before hitting screens in the UK earlier this year and garnering a huge fan base.
After falling in love, the couple, who welcomed their son Oliver Chase in October, got engaged during the finale and later married for real in a legally binding ceremony, selling the broadcast rights to A Current Affair.
Jules said: ‘I’d literally searched the whole world to find my guy, Il ive in the Uk for 14 years and I came back the year before, and I felt like I was the face of Bumble. I actually applied for the show and said ‘I’m a catch! Where’s my guy!’
Speaking about his own journey on to screens, Cameron said: ‘I was having a beer in a pub with three mates who were all married with kids and just had some scouts that came across and said do you have any interested in a dating show…

‘I thought “My life is in a good place, let’s do it! Looking back we’re both very naive, but we were both luck and we were open to love and we were both vulnerable’.
Speaking about the day they met, Jules said: ‘We sat we weren’t what we ordered, he wanted blonde and fit and I was a voluptuous redhead. And when we did our vows they mirrored each other. That felt really good, it was vibe at first sight.’
‘My mum was not in a good place I think it came from worry that I was going to get hurt, they’ve seen me get hurt a lot. Everyone else I think just knew I would be ok…

‘In the final vows that was my genuine engagement proposal, and it happened right in that moment, I said to her ‘would you be my wife,’ I was really confused.’
Clearly a huge fan, Holly began grilling them about other stars of the show, including the explosive character Ines Basic.
Jules revealed: ‘Ines now she’s said I could even be that woman if I tried to. She’s come on leaps and bounds and she’s very accountable for how she acted…

Following Wednesday night’s show, which saw Ning be rebuffed by Mark, Jules weighed in on the shocking moment as Holly said it was ‘really sad’.
Jules responded: ‘It was horrible watching that moment when it all went wrong it was interesting and she children and it was a big risk she was taking.’
