Margot Robbie slammed by Americans for talking with Aussie accent

Margot Robbie is slammed by Americans for talking with her Aussie accent while on the press tour for Barbie: ‘Is she trying to prove she’s a good actress? Drop it!’

Margot Robbie has been slammed by some Americans on social media for using her Australian accent on the press tour for her new film, Barbie.

Margot, 33, who hails from Dalby, Queensland, has been busy promoting Barbie around the globe, which comes out on Thursday Down Under.

The actress talks with an American accent in the film as she portrays the iconic doll in Barbie Land opposite Canadian star Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken.

However, it seems that Margot’s natural Aussie accent has bizarrely caught the ire of some fussy critics.

‘I don’t like that on the press tour she’s using her Aussie accent as if to let others know she’s a good actress or something because her American English sounds fine,’ one person wrote on social media.

‘Is she here on a working visa? She lives and works in Hollywood – and that’s where she gets her massive income from. Drop the accent,’ they added.

Some people were confused by the comment and underneath wrote: ‘I think she knows Margot is Australian, it’s a ”you’re in our country, you have to talk like us” kind of thing,’ one wrote.

‘I demand that from here on in, all movies played must use the accent of the country they’re played in. There, that should do it!’ another replied.

In one recent clip that went viral, Ryan Gosling forgot that co-star Margot was Australian.

‘You’re making me look bad in front of the Americans,’ he said while pointing at Margot.

Margot, confused, replied: ‘I’m not American!’

The post, made by Twitter user Bizlet this week and viewed 28 million times, reads: ‘She is a hard 7. You used to find a Margot Robbie in every Blockbuster Video in 1995.’

The pushback was swift, with many admirers of the Australian actress insisting she’s a ‘ten’.

‘If you guys keep complaining I’m going to downgrade her to a 6’ the original poster wrote after the anger directed at their comment.

‘It’s acting like your ‘statement’ is actually powerful enough to downgrade Margot Robbie who is FACTUALLY a 10′ wrote one person in response.

‘She’s a 10 no doubt and you probably are just jealous’ insisted another irritated fan of the star.

‘Margot slander on the timeline makes me sick. She is an 11/10. Cope and seethe,’ said someone else.

‘She’s a 10. The woman I’m this photo is a 10,’ one more fan chimed in.
