Mary-Kate and Ashley’s advice to little sister Elizabeth Olsen goes viral: ‘”No” is a full sentence’

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s advice to their little sister Elizabeth Olsen went viral on the Internet late this week.

Elizabeth, 32, shared their words of wisdom this January during an interview for the show Off Camera With Sam Jones.

‘Something my sisters always say – which might have come from my father at one point, my dad, I don’t know – it’s that: “No,” is a full sentence,’ she dished.

‘And I really like that, especially as a woman,’ she added, saying that ‘you can just say no and I just really like that in all aspects of life.’

Elizabeth also shared a tip she got from her father David ‘Dave’ Olsen, saying that he is ‘a golfer’ and joking that ‘the mind of a golfer is like the mind of a Buddhist.’

She explained: ‘You have to be really present and you have to really let go of your last hand. If it’s bad or if it’s good, it doesn’t matter. You can’t have an attachment to it.’

The WandaVision superstar went on: ‘And my dad would always say to try and beat your last best score, that you’re only competing against yourself. You’re not competing against anyone else. And that’s what golfers do.’

Elizabeth continued: ‘Yes, they’re competing but they’re competing against their own scores and their own handicap and their own last best round. But it’s that idea that you’re not in competition with anyone else except to improve yourself, and I think that’s something that’s always had a big impression on me.’

Mary-Kate and Ashley’s careers began when they were infants and they were cast on the first season of Full House which began in 1987.

The show wound up running until 1995 with the Olsen twins staying on until the conclusion of the series after which they remained child stars.

As the late 1990s rolled into the early 2000s they became teen idols at the center of a massive media frenzy with Mattel even selling dolls of them.

Back in 2007 Forbes estimated their joint net worth at $100 million and as a duo declared them the 11th wealthiest women in showbiz.

Elizabeth, who was born in 1989 at the dawn of her sisters’ child stardom, recently said her upbringing was was unique to me and my sisters’ experience.’

‘It’s definitely not a lot of people’s average childhood, but I don’t know if any of us look back at our childhoods and think of any of them as average,’ she said in January while appearing on Lorraine Kelly’s chat show in the UK.

A few years ago Elizabeth dished to Modern Luxury Orange County magazine about the advice Mary-Kate and Ashley gave her about interviews.

‘I was not caring what I was saying [in interviews] because I’d assumed no one would read it,’ Elizabeth confessed to the publication.

However the twins would ‘say: “You know, even if you don’t think anyone’s going to read this article, someone might pull the quote later for [something else].”‘

Elizabeth said: ‘It’s all part of how you hope someone interprets you, and how they frame who you are and the work you do. They’re very tight-lipped – notoriously so.’
