Megan Thee Stallion DROPS OUT of AMAs performance with BTS ‘due to an unexpected personal matter’
Megan Thee Stallion announced that she would no longer be attending nor performing at the 2021 American Music Awards.
The 26-year-old Grammy-winning rapper took to twitter to reveal the last minute change and cited an ‘unexpected personal matter’ as the reason for her absence.
Megan and K-pop sensation BTS were set to perform their song Butter at the award ceremony which will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 21.

Though she did not state the reason for her absence one fan commented that it may be due to the recent death of her close friend — rapper Young Dolph.
‘For everyone confused: Megan lost someone really close to her..it most [sic] be really hard for her. We will wait the day BTS and Megan preform [sic] together,’ one fan commented.
Another fan pointed to the fact that she had posted about feeling ‘sick’ over Dolph’s killing on social media a few days ago.

Dolph — real name Adolph Thornton Jr. — was shot and killed on Wednesday November 17 around 12:24PM at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Memphis Police Department had tweeted images captured of two suspects fleeing the scene with weapons in a white Mercedes with tinted windows shortly after the 36-year-old’s death.

In court documents obtained by Variety, the Houston born rapper — real name Megan Pete — accused the label of preventing her remix from being released to the public.
In her filing she stated that failure to release the song would do ‘irreparable damage’ to her music career would would have a ‘devastating impact to her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry.’
The documents stated that the label and its CEO Carl Crawford, ‘have done nothing to help Pete grow her career in the music industry and have only put up roadblocks in an attempt to stifle her artistic expression as a music artist and irreparably harm her career. Today is no different.’
At the AMAs Megan was nominated for three awards: Favorite Trending Song for Body, Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist, and Favorite Hip-Hop Album for Good News.
The ceremony is set to be hosted by Cardi B with performances by Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny with Tainy and Juliete Venegas, Diplo, Tyler The Creator and Carrie Underwood, among others.
