Megan Thee Stallion was adjudged the Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards. It marked her second win at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony held in and around the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday.
The Houston rapper also won Best Rap Performance for her “Savage Remix” with Beyoncé. Her song “Savage” was also selected as the Best Rap Song.
Megan held back tears as she accepted her big award from Grammy winner Lizzo. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, she celebrated other Grammy nominees Ingrid Andress, Phoebe Bridgers, Chika, Noah Cyrus, D Smoke, Doja Cat and Kaytranada.
The “Captain Hook” rapper dedicated her best new artist prize to her mother, who died of brain tumor in 2019.
The Best New Artist category “recognizes an artist whose eligibility-year release(s) achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and notably impacted the musical landscape”, the Recording Academy said.
