Meghan Markle Demonstrates Exactly How to Do an All-Red Look for Fall

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continued their series of New York City engagements today with a visit to P.S. 123 Mahalia Jackson School in Harlem with NYC Schools Chancellor Meisha Porter—and Meghan brought out another great fall outfit for the occasion. Meghan was photographed wearing a monochrome red look: red slacks, heels, and a coat.

According to People, Meghan read her children’s book The Bench to a group of second graders gathered outside with Prince Harry. She told them, via the outlet, “I wrote this when we just had our little boy, and I haven’t read it to any other kids but you!”

Meghan and Harry’s appearance today comes one day before the couple is set to speak at the Global Citizen Live concert about vaccine equity amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This is the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first series of public engagements since they welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana, in early June. The couple spent their summer on parental leave in their Montecito, California, home.

Meghan released her book The Bench on June 8, four days after she gave birth to Lili. She told NPR at the time that creating a children’s book that was diverse and representative was so important to her.

“Growing up, I remember so much how it felt to not see yourself represented,” the Duchess said. “Any child or any family hopefully can open this book and see themselves in it, whether that means glasses or freckled or a different body shape or a different ethnicity or religion.”
