Miley Cyrus was spotted leaving her New York hotel ahead of her appearance on Elon Musk’s controversial SNL gig, which has sparked annoyance from the show’s cast members while fans are calling it ‘one for the ages.’
The 28-year-old singer Cyrus looked every inch the rock star as she exited the trendy Bowery Hotel, in Manhattan, Saturday morning.
She sported a massive floor-length black coat and styled her hair into an edgy blonde mohawk as she headed for the SNL studio where she will perform her latest hits.
Saturday’s episode of the show has become one of the most hotly-anticipated due to the decision to cast the controversial Tesla boss as host for the evening.
Musk’s girlfriend Grimes also hinted she will be joining him and Miley in an Instagram post where she told fans: ‘Tune into SNL tonight and watch me try acting’.
The decision drew an instant backlash from its long-running cast members when it surfaced last month, with many making digs at Musk on social media.
Now, just hours before the live show, tensions are still yet to simmer with sources saying some cast members ‘are getting a little too big for their britches.’

Cyrus headed to the studio Saturday, pairing her stylish look with a white t-shirt and grey pants, which were cut at the ankle to perfectly display her black peekaboo heels.
The Prisoner performer accessorized with a pair of hoop earrings and a silver chain around her neck.
She carried a small black studded purse as she made her way through the crowd of fans waiting for her to make an appearance.
She kept her face hidden behind a large pair of shades as well as a black face mask to remain safe from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Miley was flanked by security guards to help her get through the sea of onlookers, as she skipped signing autographs to quickly get in her car on route to the show.
Miley has hosted and appeared on the NBC comedy sketch show a number of times through the years and will serve as the musical guest on May 8.

Many people took to social media Saturday voicing their expectations of Saturday’s show and host, with Twitter awash with both excitement and criticism.
‘I expect tonight’s episode of @nbcsnl to be the best of all time. No pressure @elonmusk,’ one person tweeted.
Others were less than impressed, with one writing: ‘Why the hell is Elon Musk hosting SNL tonight? I’ll pass.’
The controversy is still going on behind the scenes, a source told the New York Post.
‘The new cast are getting a little too big for their britches,’ the source said.
‘They can tweet and do whatever they want on social media… they weren’t told to take down their messages.’
When Musk’s casting was first announced in April, cast members Bowen Yang and Aidy Bryant posted Instagram Stories taking aim at Musk.
When Musk tweeted ‘Let’s find out how live Saturday Night Live really is,’ Yang posted the tweet on Stories with the response ‘what the f*** does this even mean’.

Bryant meanwhile made a more subtle dig, by posting an old quote from Senator Bernie Sanders calling it a ‘moral obscenity’ that the 50 richest people in America own more than the bottom half combined.
Sources then said cast members would not be forced to appear alongside Musk if they didn’t want to.
‘Speaking historically, if a cast member has been that unhappy, they don’t have to do it,’ a source told The New York Post.
They said that Lorne Michaels, the boss of SNL, ‘won’t ever make them do anything they don’t want to do.’
Some appear to have been won around to the idea, with Musk spotted dining out with cast members Lindsay Shookus and Pete Davidson in New York City Tuesday.
It is rare to have a business mogul host the venerable comedy TV show.
But the controversy does not seem to have deterred Musk.

‘Hi, I’m Elon Musk, and I’m hosting SNL this week with musical guest Miley Cyrus. And I’m a wild card, so there’s no telling what I may do,’ he said in a nod to the controversy surrounding his headlining act.
Miley seemed determined to match up to Elon’s wild side, as she echoed his statement and proclaimed: ‘Same here. Rules? No thanks!’
Cecily, 37, noted: ‘It’s also the Mother’s Day show so your moms are going to be here,’ to which Miley replied, ‘Forget what I said.’
The Tesla and SpaceX founder added, ‘Fine, we’ll be good… ish.’
