Made In Chelsea star Oliver Proudlock has been slammed after referencing the Holocaust in an Instagram caption about his outfit.
The 32-year-old is holidaying in Corfu with wife Emma Louise Connolly, and has been sharing photos and videos from the Domes Miramare luxury resort.
One of the snaps he shared to his stories saw him pose in a fancy bathroom, wearing a white shirt, blue and white striped trousers and white Birkenstocks.
On his stories, Proudlock captioned the picture: ‘Boy in tha stripe pyjamas.’
This appeared to be a reference to the 2006 book by John Boyne, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, and the 2008 film adaptation.
The story describes the horror of Nazi extermination camps through the eyes of two eight-year-old boys, and the ‘striped pyjamas’ are in reference to the striped clothes that the Jewish prisoners in Auschwitz were forced to wear.
Proudlock’s caption attracted criticism online after it was shared on Twitter by journalist Joshua Zitser, who wrote: ‘Jesus, Proudlock.’
He has since founded a jewellery brand called Serge DeNimes and promotes a number of other brands on social media.
The star married girlfriend of eight years Emma in December, on their fourth attempt at a lockdown wedding.
The couple were forced to scramble to change their wedding date after new restrictions were introduced days before they were due to tie the knot, and they didn’t go on honeymoon straight away due to lockdown.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Proudlock’s rep for comment.
