‘I’m gutted’: Olly Murs reveals he has had emergency knee surgery as he shares photos from hospital bed and is forced to cancel entire summer tour
Olly Murs has cancelled all his summer shows after undergoing major knee surgery this week.
The singer, 37, took to Instagram on Friday to share pictures of himself on crutches and with his knee in a brace as he announced he would be refunding the cost of tour tickets to fans after doing his best to ‘avoid’ the surgery on his knee.
He wrote: ‘I am gutted to have to write this message but unfortunately I’ve had to undergo major new knee surgery again this week.

‘Been trying my best to avoid having it done but the op was needed and it went well.
‘I’m recovering in hospital but it means I’m having to cancel all my summer shows this year whilst I focus on my rehab.
‘Refunds will all be available from your point of purchase and please keep an eye out for any emails from your ticketing agent over the next few days.

In 2019, Olly revealed he had undergone a ‘serious’ knee operation in which his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) had been reconstructed.
At the time, he admitted he would be going off social media for a few months to focus on his recovery and shared photos of himself laid up in bed.

One of the photos showed Olly’s bandaged left bloodied leg while a short video displayed his leg secured in a brace from his thigh to his ankle as he balanced on crutches.
Last year Olly had further surgery after ‘a fragment of bone managed to lodge itself to the back of my knee’, landing him in hospital, after during a gig in Newmarket.
He wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘During the gig, I was just limping the whole time, I couldn’t believe it. So basically I’m in, I’ve had the surgery, I wanted to get this done because I’ve got the Newby gig on the 14th and the Singleton Park on the 15th.

‘So I wanted to make sure I got this done for you guys. It will be a different gig, I probably won’t be running around like I normally do, there might be a stool for me to sit down on, but I can’t cancel these gigs for you guys.’
It comes after Olly split from his record label RCA Records after 12 years just as he was working on his seventh album, his first since 2018’s You Know I Know.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: ‘Olly was with RCA for 12 years which is a really long time.

‘He had a discussion with them and ultimately decided he wanted to shake things up a bit.
‘He has been in the studio working on music for months now and wants to get it out soon.’
And Olly has reportedly already been in contact with a number of other labels, who are keen to sign him up.
The insider added: ‘As things stand, loads of labels have expressed their interest and now it’s just a case of finding the best deal which will work for him.’
Olly is really excited about the next chapter, with the source saying Olly is ‘raring to get going again’ with his new team.
The star finished second on the The X Factor in 2009 and has gone on to have a successful career in music and television.l
