Oscars 2022: Guests will wear blue ribbons that say ‘with refugees’ at the Academy Awards in support of Ukraine
Every year Oscar guests seem to wear a ribbon or button to highlight a certain cause that stands out at the moment.
And this year it will be a blue ribbon in support of Ukraine as it endures a miserable war with Russia, according to Showbiz411.
The blue ribbon will be a loop with the hashtag #withrefugees on the side, it was claimed.

Will she have it on? Oscar guests will wear a blue ribbon in support of Ukraine as it endures a miserable war with Russia, according to Showbiz411. Nicole Kidman is one of the nominees and may have it on; seen in February

The Oscars will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET and in 200-plus territories around the world.
Among the presenters are Jennifer Garner, Lady Gaga, Mila Kunis, Uma Thurman, Serena Williams and Lily James.
Nominees include Will Smith, Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart, Kenneth Branagh and Nicole Kidman, among others.
The ribbons are distributed by the UN Refugee Agency and an image was shared by UNHCR.
The agency have ‘put together this campaign for the celebrities and more to wear the ribbons to demonstrate the plight of refugees not only in the Ukraine, but for the 85 million that are displaced around the world,’ it was claimed by Leah Sydney at Showbiz411.
Another nominee: Kristen Stewart, seen on Saturday at a pre-Oscar dinner, might put on a blue ribbon
Anadil Hossain, who is the Principal Communications Advisor for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, put this outreach together with Social Impact Strategist Bonnie Abaunza.
Hossain said, ‘This notes that this year’s Oscar nominated films include some powerful stories centered on the themes of refugees, displacement, home and belonging — Encanto, Flee, Three Songs for Benazir, Belfast and Dune — at a time when the world is witnessing the largest refugee crisis since WW2.
‘Artists have been wanting to show their solidarity for Ukraine and we wanted to ask them to extend this support to the almost 84 million people forced to flee. Whenever. Wherever.
‘While the ribbons are a symbolic visible gesture, we saw this an opportunity to message around a wider understanding and awareness of this global humanitarian crisis – as the nominated films this year have done with great imagination and empathy.’

And Jon Bernthal was wearing a blue and yellow ribbon to show support for Ukraine as he arrived at the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Barker Hangar on Sunday, February 27 in Santa Monica, California.
Meanwhile, Sean Penn has threatened to publicly destroy his Oscars if Sunday’s ceremony doesn’t give a platform to Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The 61-year-old star – who has Best Actor statuettes for his work on ‘Mystic River’ and ‘Milk’ – urged the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to ensure the actor-turned-politician is given a moment to shine a spotlight on his war-torn country, and called on guests to ‘walk out’ of the show if it doesn’t happen.
Looking good: And Jon Bernthal was wearing a blue and yellow ribbon to show support for Ukraine as he arrived at the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Barker Hangar on Sunday, February 27 in Santa Monica, California.
Speaking on CNN, he said: ‘If it turns out to be what is happening, I would encourage everyone involved, though it may be their moment, and I understand that, to celebrate their films, it is so much more importantly their moment to shine, and to protest and to boycott that Academy Awards. I myself, if it comes back to it, when I return, I will smelt mine in public.
‘I pray that’s not what happened. I pray there have not been arrogant people who consider themselves representatives of the greater good who have decided not to check in with leadership in Ukraine. So I’m going to hope that’s not what happened, and I hope everyone walks out if it is.’
Sean – who is currently in Warsaw, Poland, for safety reasons – is shooting a documentary for Vice about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and met with Zelensky earlier this week.
Another time: A blue and yellow ribbon, tossed in by swimmers, floats in the ice water after a moment of silence for Ukraine during the Memphremagog Winter Swimming Festival in Newport, Vermont, on February 26
Amy Schumer – who will co-host the ceremony with Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes – previously admitted she thinks it would be a ‘great opportunity’ to use the Oscars’ global platform to share a message from the Ukraine President.
She said earlier this month: ‘I think there is definitely pressure in one way to be like, “This is a vacation, let people forget we just want to have this night.”
‘But it is like well we have so many eyes and ears on this show.
Penn’s move: Hollywood star and founder of CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) Sean Penn holds a press conference at a building housing refugees from Ukraine after signing an agreement with authorities to help refugees from Ukraine on Friday in Rzeszow, Poland
‘I think it’s a great opportunity to at least comment on a couple of things. I have some jokes that kind of highlight the sort of current condition. I mean, there are so many awful things happening that it seems hard to focus on which one.
‘I actually pitched, I wanted to find a way to have Zelenskyy satellite in or make a tape or something just because there are so many eyes on the Oscars.
‘I am not afraid to go there, but it’s not me producing the Oscars.’
