Oprah Winfrey, 67, sat down with Adele this week to discuss everything from reconciling with her father, to her weight loss journey. In the rare, all-access interview, the singer talked about her life ahead of the release of her new album, 30.

Piers Morgan, 56, took to Twitter today to hit back at Oprah’s comments on the interview in front of his 7.9 million followers.

In light of her own 43.1 million followers, Oprah tweeted: “And I need therapy to get “Easy On Me” out of my head. Congrats on releasing your truth today @adele!”

Her kind words came after her candid interview with the famous singer, which aired on Sunday in a televised CBS special.

In response to Oprah’s choice of words, Piers scathingly wrote: “There’s only one truth, Oprah – facts are not a movable feast.”

Adele, 33, bravely shared details of her split from ex-husband Simon Konecki and a number of other private matters that she previously hadn’t spoken out about in public.

However, while Oprah referred to Adele’s comments as “her truth”, Piers was quick to question the concept of subjective truth.

This in turn caused a debate over facts versus opinion in the comments of his tweet.

“How did fact or reality become so misconstrued?” LauraLee365 questioned in the comments.

“It’s so annoying how these celebrities think their truth is the only truth, the correct one when we haven’t listened to the other side,” wrote LoveforCambridg.

“I’ve always wondered what ‘your truth’ even means. Surely she should mean ‘your side of the story,” Nintenmarz added.

“It’s not ‘your truth’ if you’ve completely twisted everything and made things up.”

“The truth is THE TRUTH! You can have a different viewpoint, but facts don’t lie,” Gmatthews4 agreed.

However, other Twitter users felt that Piers’ post actually missed the mark.

Kimberley Jordan wrote: “I beg to differ. One event can happen and it can be true for one man that it was a good day and true for another it was a bad day, because of the same event. Opinions differ.”

Abe Oluwatomiwa also weighed in, saying: “Exactly why you hold on to what you think is true.

“See, Morgan, the way it works, the truth can only be personified.

“You can only see through your own mind. ‘Truth’ is embedded in how you see things.

“It is what you call it as much as it is what I call it,” he concluded.

KeepMeTrueL then wondered if Piers’ comments might have shown him taking another swipe at Meghan Markle.

They wrote: “I nearly gave my like to this tweet, then I thought ooh woow he is still on about Meghan. (sic)

“Poor Piers cannot get over being jilted by some young woman.”
