Piers Morgan has broken his silence for the first time since quitting Good Morning Britain as he paid tribute to his late manager.

The dad-of-four, who revealed he has had to beef up security at his home after death threats, took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with his former manager John Ferriter.

In the snap, the 55 year old is smiling from ear to ear as he puts his arm around his late pal and manager John.

Alluding to his exit from Good Morning Britain, the outspoken star said John would have told him to do the same thing.

He captioned it: "Thinking of my late great manager John Ferriter tonight. He'd have told me to do the same thing."

Piers' pal Mark Wright commented: "A man with an opinion, right or wrong, he has one, I wouldn't dare say if I agree or disagree with his opinions over the years, as I may be crucified, but ultimately unlike others, Piers has one!!

"Today has proven, you can't!! It will cost you. So let's all continue to be vanilla and agree with everything we should agree with and not what we want to.

"A great loss to @gmb love him or hate him. Along with @susannareid100 he made that show what it is. Withouse those 2 together at the helm, I'm not sure if it's future." [sic]

A statement read: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted his decision and has nothing further to add."

Piers, who was hit by petitions to be removed from the show, had earlier engaged in a heated row with co-star Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle's allegations during her tell-all interview.

The former Britain's Got Talent judge refused to listen to Alex and stormed off the set, as he said: "Okay, I'm done with this. No, sorry, see you later."
