Russell Brand denies Dispatches documentary claims
Piers Morgan has claimed Katy Perry refused to reveal the truth about why her marriage ended with Russell Brand.
The California Girl hitmaker’s marriage to the British comedian was shortlived and lasted just 14 months and ended abruptly when Russell told the pop star over text he was divorcing her.
The comic is currently at the centre of a sex abuse scandal, after four women accused the ex-BBC presenter of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse – allegations he has vehemently denied.
Writing in his latest column for The Sun, Piers, 58, has given an insight into a conversation he shared with Katy, 38, in the aftermath of her marriage split.
He wrote: “When we met in 2013 at a Vanity Fair party in Washington DC, after her divorce from Brand, I tried to book her for an interview. ‘I’m not ready yet,’ she said. ‘Why not?’

‘Because you’ll get the truth out of me, and I’m just not ready to tell you the truth! In fact, I’m not sure I’m ready to admit the truth to myself.’
“Then she laughed. ‘You Brits are all the same, so damn confident… Trouble is, I find that irresistible. I love Brits… Well, not all of them – not Rasputin, obviously.’
Piers added: “What truth was she worried about admitting?”
The Uncensored presenter also questioned why the singer had referred to her ex-husband as Rasputin – a Russian monk who was often claimed to be a seducer and sexual deviant.

Russell’s former wife, who is now engaged to her long-term partner Orlando Bloom, said in an interview with Vogue in 2013 that she had initially taken “a lot of responsibility” for the split until she “found out the real truth”.
Katy said she would keep this “truth”, which she could not “necessarily disclose”, locked in her safe “for a rainy day”.
It has prompted renewed speculation about what secret the singer had been referring to following the divorce.
In her documentary Part of Me, the singer also reflected on her marriage.
The pair first met in 2008, the couple held a lavish wedding in India at the Ranthambore Tiger Sanctuary in Rajasthan in 2010.
Less than two years later they revealed they had divorced citing “irreconcilable differences”.
The claims against Russell were first made public this weekend following a joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
