Richard Madeley crashes face first down chute into rotten fruit in ITV’s I’m A Celeb

Richard Madeley puts on a brave show as he takes part in another gruesome trial on tonight's ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The Good Morning Britain host, 65, is seen plunging head first down a chute in a preview clip from the episode, landing in a mixture of rotten fruit and vegetables.

Amid giggles, host Ant & Dec suggest that plummeting down the chute “head-first” is the “safest option, then struggle to contain their laughter as Richard vanishes into the smelly mess below.

Ant is heard to snigger: “That image will stay with me for a long time.”

Richard was not impressed by the challenge.

“There’s about seven tonnes of fruit, I’ll never find a star in here”, he complains whilst being showered with more rotting food.

He continues: “It’s freezing. This is really, really hard.”

Castle Kitchen Nightmare’s is presenter Richard’s second trial and in it he has to rummage through rancid, rotting food in order to dig out a star. At one point he’s sure he’s found a star, but it turns out to be a mouldy tangerine.

TV legend Richard has previously lost the Turrets of Terror trial to Frankie Bridge. In order to reach a key they needed to unlock three separate gates but the addition of plenty of bugs made things challenging.

Richard’s public nomination came as a shock to fans who had predicted that Naughty Boy would be nominated. Before heading into the castle Richard had urged fabs to nominate him, saying he’d like to take part in as many trials as possible.

In his pre-show interview he said: “I really hope I do get voted for the Trials.

“The thing about this programme is you mustn’t go in to it if you take yourself remotely seriously. I don’t and I am thoroughly looking forward to being covered in god knows what.

“You have to be prepared for people to laugh and I see this as a bl**dy great romp of fun!”

The new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! started on 21 November as 10 new celebrities began the battle to be crowned King or Queen of the castle.

Filmed in Gwrych Castle in Wales for the second year running, this series has already has already been thrown into chaos with two celebs threatening to leave. Arlene Phillips and Naughty Boy both threatened to leave the show after spending two days in The Clink.
