Out and about: Richard Madeley, 65, cut a solemn figure as he stepped out on Friday wearing a white T-shirt and light blue ripped jeans, amid rumours that he will take part in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Finishing the outfit, Richard wore brown walking boots and later donned black aviator sunglasses, despite the gloomy weather.

On the signing, The Sun reported that The Good Morning Britain host has long been a fan of the ITV show and has been targeted by producers for quite some time.

A source said: ‘Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right. But now, finally, he’s said ‘Yes’.

‘He’s a favourite with ITV execs. He’s brilliant off and on screen so it seemed as good a time as any to throw caution to the wind and eat animal bits.

Signed and sealed: It was reported by The Sun on Thursday that the journalist has ‘signed a £200,000 contract’ with the show

Accesorising: The television personality sported a tan leather satchel by designer Kaszer on his jaunt and appeared to have forgotten to take the tag off it

‘He’s a fantastic coup and a nailed-on fan favourite. Once you wind him up, off he goes — he will make for castle gold.’

Richard’s son-in-law James Haskell, who is married to his daughter Chloe, took part in the 2019 series of the show, with Richard flying out to Australia to support him.

He also appeared on the programme’s spin-off show Extra Camp that year.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Richard Madeley and ITV for comment.

It comes after reports that Dame Arlene Phillips has also signed up to take part in this year’s series.

New gig: A source said: ‘Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right. But now, finally, he’s said ‘Yes’

News of Arlene’s signing was reported by The Mirror, with sources telling the paper the former dancer will have no trouble handling the chilly interior of Gwrych Castle – as she is ‘strong and tough’.

They told the paper in full: ‘Arlene is strong and tough and her energy is boundless.

‘No doubt she’ll have the group dancing around the campfire in a bid to beat the cold and keep morale high. Should be fun.’

Arlene’s representatives declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.

Meanwhile, Louise Minchin has reportedly been approached by ITV bosses about joining the show’s line up.

The upcoming series will be filmed once again at North Wales’ Gwrych Castle after ITV bosses ruled out a return to Australia due to travel restrictions on the country’s east coast, currently in the midst of another lockdown.
