Richard Osman insists he has finally found his soulmate in new girlfriend Ingrid Oliver, 14 years after divorcing the mother of his two children. 

The Pointless host, 51, embarked on a romantic relationship with Doctor Who star Ingrid last summer after knowing her on a platonic basis for many years. 

The actress, 44 – best known for her role as Petronella Osgood in the BBC sci-fi drama – subsequently moved into Osman’s south-west London home that October, and he admits he’s finally found happiness.

Appearing on the Christmas Day edition of Desert Island Discs, he said: ‘I’m happy with myself, I’ve got these beautiful kids, I’ve met the woman who I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.

‘That thing of competition and ambition, you soon realise that rocket fuel disappears and it’s about happiness and my kids bring me happiness and Ingrid brings me happiness.’

Osman also dedicated classic Erasure track A Little Respect to Ingrid, who has previously featured alongside the host on his BBC show, Richard Osman’s House of Games.

The host finalised his divorce from his former wife in 2007 and has two children, daughter Ruby and son Sonny, with her. 

In the last few years, Osman has dated jazz singer Sumudu Jayatilaka and Absolute Radio host Emily Dean, although both relationships were short-lived.   

His relationship with Ingrid reportedly began at a dinner party after the first lockdown, with a source claiming the award-winning author had told friends she ‘is the one’.

Ingrid – the daughter of Conservative MP Jo Gideon – attended the selective Tiffin Girls’ School in Surrey and won praise for her BBC sketch show Watson & Oliver with school friend Lorna Watson before winning a role in Doctor Who. 

As well as his love life reaching new heights, the 6ft 7in star has enjoyed a metaphorical rise as an author.

His debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, has sold more than a million copies and Steven Spielberg has bought film rights.
