Moreno recalled, ‘I found lingerie in his house, and of course I was heartbroken and I went home in tears – really, I was naïve – and the very next day, and I was angry too, just furious.’

The Humacao, Puerto Rico-born actress recalled how she received a phone call from Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker.

‘The phone rings and I say hello and [Parker said,] “Miss Moreno, this is Colonel Parker, my client is Elvis Presley. And Elvis spotted you at the 20th Century Fox … commissary and he liked what he saw.”

‘I said, “Oh,” and [Parker said,] “He would like very much to meet you, would you like to meet him?” And I thought of [Brando’s cheating] and I said, “Yes, I would.”‘

Moreno, who captured the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress playing Anita in 1961’s West Side Story, said she dated Presley ‘several times,’ and that ‘he was sweet, but boring,’ and did not compare to the iconic actor Brando.

‘He was sweet but he was a country boy, I mean, this is Marlon Brando,’ she said.

Moreno said that ‘even without social media,’ Brando found out that she had stepped out with Presley, and exploded in a tantrum in which ‘he threw chairs and yelled and carried on.’

She added: ‘When he found out … and it didn’t take long … he lost it, he started to throw chairs he was so angry yeah, it was wonderful.’

Moreno had past opened up about the romances in her 2011 bestseller Rita Moreno: A Memoir, noting that she met Brando making the 1954 film Desiree; and met Presley in 1957 on the set of his motion picture King Creole.

Moreno plays the role of Valentina in the upcoming West Side Story remake, which hits theaters December 10.
