Rita Ora confirms marriage to Taika Waititi after ‘perfect’ private ceremony

After months of swirling rumours and speculation, singer Rita Ora has finally confirmed the news that she wed movie director boyfriend Taika Waititi earlier this year.

Speaking on Heart Radio Breakfast this morning to promote her latest single You Only Love Me, Rita, 32, described her nuptials as "perfect", describing she and Taika's wedding as a "special day".

"Yes [I am married]," she beamed as she spoke to hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden. "I am officially off the market people. I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself more but with my new video I am playing on what could have been."

"When the rumours came out is she, isn't she? I wanted to play on it." the 'Love You Love Me' singer admitted. "I wanted to do a wedding that didn't go to plan… that's not to say that is actually what happened."

Gushing about tying the knot to her Jojo Rabbit frontman partner, Rita said: "It was perfect. It was exactly, exactly how I wanted.

"It was nice and perfect. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes. It was nice and sweet… Sorry it's not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party."

Speaking about her possible name change, the star confessed: "I have definitely thought about taking his surname but I have worked very hard for this Ora name. I don't know… I haven't really decided yet."

Earlier this week, the Anywhere hitmaker was forced to break her silence over rumours that she and her husband were involved in a "throuple" with model and actress Tessa Thompson.

The three raised eyebrows when they were photographed smoking, drinking and looking rather close at a bar balcony in Sydney, Australia, in which a very relaxed Taika appears to have his arms around both women.

The photos were taken back in May 2021 – but the three have been dogged by rumours and speculation ever since.

The 32-year-old said: "Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve had a lot of drinks and everyone’s your best friend? And then the next day you’re like: I was talking to this person in the smoking area for four hours and I’ve got no idea who they are.”

Adding that everyone was "letting loose," Rita was quick to clarify that she and Taika are just friends with Tessa.

She went on to explain that she had remained silent for so long because the accusation was "so ridiculous" and that she feared "feeding into nothing."

Taika has also addressed the speculation in an interview with local newspaper the Sydney Morning Herald.

The director, who has directed huge films including Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, asked if the rumours were really a "big deal".

Continuing, the Marvel director said that he had done "nothing wrong" and that the rumours were just a result of wild online speculation that would go away quickly.
