Yet Rod Stewart didn’t appear to mind the criticism at all as he stepped out for a festive shopping trip with his glamorous wife Penny Lancaster in central London on Monday evening.
The rocker, 76, waved his arms in the air and larked around as he walked past the capital city’s iconic Bond Street, while his Rolls Royce was parked outside luxury jewellers Boodles and Cartier.

Rod was dressed to impress for the outing, wearing a pale grey waistcoat with black and white checked trousers and jazzy silver brogues.
He also added a striped tie and black overcoat, while sporting a black satchel across his body, which was no doubt full of his essentials.
Rod ensured he stayed safe while out in Omicron-hit London by sporting a face mask.

The police officer wore her blonde locks swept back into a low ponytail, while leaving some strands to frame her pretty features. She was also rocking a pair of silver wire-framed glasses.
Penny was toting her purchases from Alexander McQueen in a plush carrier bag.

The rocker, 76, performed during the annual event – which was hosted by Alan Carrr – alongside other stars including Ed Sheeran, Anne Maries and Years & Years.
But ITV viewers admitted they were left disappointed by Sir Rod’s performance, weeks after having a similar reaction to his Graham Norton Show appearance.

Performing his new single, One More Time’ the star was branded ‘dated at best’ and compared to Bill Nighy’s aging rocker character Billy Mack from Love Actually by social media users.
Sir Rod was on the sofa with Lady Gaga, Adam Driver and Josh Gad and Nadiya Hussain during the episode before taking to the stage.

‘Here performing his single One More Time, it is Sir Rod Stewart.’
But viewers were left completely underwhelmed by Rod’s performance and took to social media to express their dissatisfaction.

Rod’s single release is part of his 31st studio album, The Tears of Hercules which he revealed was out yesterday.
He announced the new album in a bizarre post on social media, in which he glides along on a scooter.
It is an album he says was born out of lockdown because he had ‘so much time to think’.
The new album release comes after he said he will be doing a huge arena tour in 2022 and tickets have gone on sale.
During the appearnace, the singer was asked by Norton how he keeps in shape but could not hear the host.
Rod said he plays football and has had the same trainer for 35 years after he was told by Norton that he looks ‘fit as a flea.’
He also joked that his wife was going to ‘kill him’ because he made a comment about sex and how it was always on his mind.
