Salma Hayek Gets Emotional as She Recalls Being Attacked With Knife After Ignoring Man’s Catcall

The ‘Eternals’ actress recounts her scary encounter with a man who tried to stab her when she ignored his catcall and no one helped her until bikers showed up.

AceShowbizSalma Hayek had to fight off a knife-wielding man when she first moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s.

The “Eternals” actress shared the scary story as she was awarded the 2,709th star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame over the weekend (19-21Nov21).

Friends from her native Mexico were visiting Salma, who was then barely known outside her native country, and when they wanted to buy souvenirs, the party ventured out to the touristy area.

“We’re walking down the street, and a poor man was on the floor and was very messed up,” she recalled.

Salma ignored the man, who cat-called her, and she kept walking, but he “took offence, got up, took a knife out, and started coming after me, trying to stab me.”

And she was overcome with emotion at the memory, adding no one responded to their pleas for help – until two members of the Hells Angels motorbike club came to their rescue.

“I was asking someone to call the police, nobody came. Eventually, we went in a store because we were so tired and it was so scary. We jumped over the counter, I grabbed a stick and I had to keep him from getting us with a stick.

“Every time I thought about Hollywood Boulevard, this is what I remember,” Hayek added, describing her biker saviours as “gentlemen.”

She also detailed instances of racism that almost made her give up her American showbusiness dreams, but described receiving the Walk of Fame honour as “very healing.”

“Eternals” director Chloe Zhao and Salma’s “Grown Ups” co-star Adam Sandler were among the names on hand to help fete their pal.
