On Thursday, Sex And The City fans were sent wild when actor John Corbett revealed he is set to reprise his role as Carrie’s former fiancé and second great love Aidan Shaw in the upcoming reboot And Just Like That…

The eagerly-anticipated HBO Max series will consist of ten episodes and will see the return of most main characters, bar Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, and with questions over Mr Big, played by Chris Noth.

Sarah Jessica Parker will, of course, be at the forefront alongside Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, playing Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda respectively, but which men will be in their lives?

So as we prepare to revisit everybody’s favourite shoe-loving Manhattanite, we take a look back at the 28 lovers Carrie squeezed into six seasons, 94 episodes and two movies…

Her two great loves: As Aidan is CONFIRMED for Sex And The City reboot, we take a look at all 28 of Carrie’s lovers including Aidan and Mr Big (Aidan Shaw, left, Mr Big, right)

MR BIG

Played by Chris Noth, Mr Big, whose real name we later discover is John James Preston, was the definition of suave, giving lessons in cool to many men of the late nineties and early Noughties.

The tale of Carrie and Big was fraught with passion, hurt, toxicity and high drama. From their first meeting in Series One (when he helped scoop her condoms off the street) to their subsequent split and later infidelity behind his wife Natasha’s back, fans of the know every detail of their damaged love.

Last time we left Carrie and Big they had settled into married life, albeit with some stumbling blocks, but with Chris possibly being a no show in And Just Like That…, who can say what will become of Carrie without Big?

So iconic was their love, that Sex And The City creator Candace Bushnell revealed their romance could not shift even though she didn’t believe in them as a couple in real life.

She said: ‘Well, I think, in real life, Carrie and Big wouldn’t have ended up together. But at that point the TV show had become so big. Viewers got so invested in the storyline of Carrie and Big that it became a bit like Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett…

‘They had become an iconic couple and women really related to it; they would say ‘I found my Mr Big’ or ‘I just broke up with my Mr Big.’ It became part of the lexicon….

‘And when people are making a TV show, it’s show business, not show art, so at that point it was for the audience and we weren’t thinking about what the impact would be 10 years later.’

There is division among Sex And The City fans over who truly was Carrie’s happily ever, as many believe Aidan was much better for Carrie than the inconsistent and often hurtful Mr Big.

AIDAN SHAW

There is division among Sex And The City fans over who truly was Carrie’s happily ever, as many believe Aidan was much better for Carrie than the inconsistent and often hurtful Mr Big.

Aidan, a Manhattan furniture designer, had a two season arch as Carrie’s love interest as she attempted to get over her whirlwind romance with the infamous Big.

The on-screen couple endured two heartbreaking splits, with Aidan breaking things off with Carrie after learning of her infidelity with Mr. Big to Carrie rejecting Aidan’s marriage proposal in season four.

On his return to the show, John Corbett said: ‘I’m going to do the show’. When asked ‘how many episodes’ he will appear in on the forthcoming reboot, Corbett replied: ‘I think I might be in quite a few.’

No! There is division among Sex And The City fans over who truly was Carrie’s happily ever, as many believe Aidan was much better for Carrie than the inconsistent and often hurtful Mr Big

‘The Russian’ as Carrie so called him was a charming famous artist who rubbed shoulders with the stars at Studio 54, wined and dined with the crème de la Crème of the art world and turned Carrie’s head.

ALEKSANDR PETROVSKY

‘The Russian’, as Carrie so called him, was a charming famous artist who rubbed shoulders with the stars at Studio 54, wined and dined with the crème de la Crème of the art world and turned Carrie’s head.

Played by Mikhail Baryshnikov, the suave Russian charm only lasted so long as Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha were less than thrilled to discover Carrie was moving to Paris to be with the artist.

All was not as it seemed though, as they arrived in Paris and Carrie was not living the chic life she imagined and was however spending time alone and making friends with shop staff (who were coincidentally her biggest fans).

The rest was, of course, history when her Knight In Shining Armour – or rather her Big In An Expensive Suit – arrived to sweep her away and back to NYC, where she belongs.

Fellow author Jack made Carrie’s adoring fans furious, with his snide remarks, his arrogance, his bitterness, his reluctance to celebrate her success and so much more.

JACK BERGER

If you say the words ‘I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.’ to any self-respecting Sex And The City fans, their immediate thought will be POST IT NOTE.

Fellow author Jack made Carrie’s adoring fans furious, with his snide remarks, his arrogance, his bitterness, his reluctance to celebrate her success and so much more.

If you say the words ‘I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.’ to any self-respecting Sex And The City fans, their immediate thought will be POST IT NOTE.

The first glimmers of Berger seemed so delightful but we soon learned the truth.

Speaking about the legendary Post It, Ron Livingston, who played Berger, insisted times and attitudes have changed – particularly with the choice of using written word.

He said: ”There’s something about being in the age of texting, and Tinder where, like, a handwritten Post-it note is actually kind of old fashioned and quaint. You put some effort into that.’

Ron also reflected on the scene in which he went for drinks with the three leading ladies, as he said: ‘There weren’t a lot of boyfriends that got to do the scenes with everybody…

‘Usually the boyfriends were in the boyfriend ghetto, and your stuff would only be with Sarah Jessica, or Cynthia [Nixon, who played Miranda], or whoever you were. But so that was kinda cool. I felt like I was, you know, an insider on the show when I got to sit in on that.’

Carrie enjoyed her Jackie O moment when she was judging a fireman strip competition in New Jersey and came across the irresistibly charming politician Bill Kelley, played by John M. Slattery Jr.

BILL KELLEY AKA THE POLITICIAN

Agh! Carrie is returning to screens… but are any of her lovers coming with her?

Carrie enjoyed her Jackie O moment when she was judging a fireman strip competition in New Jersey and came across the irresistibly charming politician Bill Kelley, played by John M. Slattery Jr.

As ever with Carrie, her clothes complemented her man, so in her own words, she ‘dug out some vintage Halston and transformed into the First Lady of Fashion.

While Bill later admitted to Carrie’s column affecting his political career, she went on to (almost) name and shame him for his sexual desires – which included toilet habits.

RAY KING

While attempting to be ‘just friends’ with Mr Big, Carrie meets jazz club owner Ray King, who Big mocks relentlessly in what appears to be sparks of jealousy.

Carrie finds steamy passion with the musician (branding him the best sex she’d ever had) however when she tried to take things to more than just sex, she worked out he had ADHD and was unable to hold a conversation with her.

Alas she enjoyed one more night of passion and never spoke to the pork-pie hat wearing musician ever again.

Happier times… While clubowner Ray King had ADHD, Keith Travers was merely a seasoned liar in his LA life

KEITH TRAVERS

Vince Vaughn’s character Keith was far from his Hollywood best in reality however he managed to swindle LA visitor Carrie into believing he was a hot shot exec.

It was only after Carrie Fisher burst into their post-coital moments that she realised he was a personal assistant – and apparently – a liar!

PATRICK CASEY

Carrie learned the hard way not to toy with addiction recovery when she met Patrick.

After going off piste with his Alcoholics Anonymous programme to start their romance, Patrick falls off the wagon and finds a new addiction – sex with Carrie.

HOWIE HALBERSTEIN

While Carrie should have watched Charlotte and Harry’s nuptials with glee, she was left instead with an aching back after an ill-fated night of passion with the Groom’s pal Howie.

Things ended spectacularly badly when he began screaming at her when she explained she did not want more.

Carrie’s chequered love life kept fans delighted, with her dalliances with Paul Denai, Howie Halberstein and Patrick Casey all ending in disaster – with lessons along the way

PAUL DENAI

During Carrie’s catastrophic turn on the runway – in which she was turned to ‘fashion roadkill’ – she met esteemed fashion photographer Paul, who was snapping away, even during  her flat face moment.

KURT HARRINGTON

In the very first episode, we met Kurt, who Carrie slept with in an effort to show that women can have sex in the same style as men – AKA without emotional attachment.

A fleeting character but important segway into Carrie’s world of sex and romantic advice.

WILLIE APPLEGATE

Itchy and nervous, Willie’s arrival in the sixth season came slap back in the middle of her growing dalliance with the loathsome (at that time dreamy) Jack Berger

All star cameos came from Bon Jovi and Bradley Cooper, who played two of her fleeting flames in Seth and Jake

WADE ADAMS

When Carrie first met Wade, she could not fathom how a comic book store owner who listened to Eighties classic and rode a scooter, could live in a lavish pad with a view on the Upper East Side.

She soon learnt that he did indeed live there – with his parents. While they had their Hot Child In The City Summer, Carrie soon came crashing back to earth, and ensured it was with a big bag of marijuana in hand.

JAKE

Long before starring in A Star Is Born, a star was being born when Bradley Cooper appeared on the show. While Carrie is in a state of crisis about growing up, he manages to make her feel even worse.

JOHN MCFADDEN

John was an intermittent feature in Carrie’s life, as she revealed to the girls that he was her ‘f**k buddy’.

In an attempt to make something deeper out of their union, Carrie enjoys a sushi dinner with John, who she soon discovers is something of a moron, so returns to their physical passion.

John was an intermittent feature in Carrie’s life, as she revealed to the girls that he was her ‘f**k buddy’ while Dr Bradley Meego was Carrie’s ‘On Paper Guy’

SETH

An all-star appearance came in the form of Seth, played by Jon Bon Jovi who she met in her therapist’s office of all places.

While they enjoyed fleeting passion, he went on to reveal that his problem is losing sleep in women once he’d slept with them – while Carrie’s big issue is ‘choosing the wrong me’.

JEREMIAH

When Carrie was left feeling oscrachised by Big’s friends at a swanky party, she found solace in Jeremiah, an actor turned waiter who she knew from the NYC clubbing scene.

Carrie’s love life entertained a whole generation

After storming out of the party, she soon debated a night of passion but was too drunk and remembered her love for Mr Big. She reasoned that before you both say I love you, there’s no such thing as cheating.

SAM AKA THE TWENTY SOMETHING

Sam was another one of Carrie’s ‘bits of fun’. Initially seeming like a fantastic idea, when she was kissing him and he was an amazing kisser – but when she woke up and was forced to use coffee filters as toilet paper, things changed.

DR BRADLEY MEEGO

Dr Bradley Meego was Carrie’s ‘On Paper Guy’. Everything checked out, he ticked all boxes however when it came down to things he simply didn’t have the dazzle she needed.

It was when Carrie bumped into Big and Natasha for the first time that Bradley disappeared from the picture.

GILES

Nothing puts a dampener on a date more than a man thinking you’re a prostitute.

And Carrie suffered this fate when she enjoyed a steamy and fleeting romance with dazzling French architect Giles, however she was left appalled when he ended the date by leaving $1000 on a bedside table.

One of the ‘freaks’ Carrie dated was film producer PJ, who she briefly detailed when he revealed that his care and attention to a documentary on seagulls was merely a stepping stone to fame.

VAUGHN WYSEL

Writer Vaughn was an unfortunate addition for Carrie, as he had problems in the bedroom, yet while their dalliance fizzled out, her love for his mum only grew and grew.

Played by Justin Theroux, Vaughn was a fleeting love however Justin had actually already starred in the show as another writer – Jared – trying to attract Carrie’s attentions.

He explained how it worked, saying: ‘Sex and the City was one of those shows that they burned through every actor in the first couple seasons, I guess. It’s like Law & Order.

Oops! Writer Vaughn was an unfortunate addition for Carrie, as he had problems in the bedroom, yet while their dalliance fizzled out her love for his mum only grew and grew

‘It’s kind of a rite of passage, you have to do Sex and the City.

‘They said, ‘Well, we have to figure out a way to make you look different. So we were like, ‘Let’s just shave my head and have short hair. So, that was me diving into the role.’

PJ: THE MAN WITH NO SOUL

One of the ‘freaks’ Carrie dated was film producer PJ, who she briefly detailed when he revealed that his care and attention to a documentary on seagulls was merely a stepping stone to fame.

THE MAN WITH TWO FACES

Carrie dubbed one of her lovers The Man with Two Faces, due to the fact he was a delight when they were alone together but in the presence of others he would snap.

Naturally the HUGE red flags ended that relationship.

THE MAN WHO STEALS CHEAP BOOKS FOR NO REASON

The name sort of gives away the pitfalls of this potential suitor, who she caught stealing during their date in a bizarre turn of events which once again left her faithless in men.

BEN

In Carrie’s series of ‘Freaks’, she comes across Ben, who appears to be perfect – sincere, kind, attentive and everything Carrie could have wanted in a companion.

It was however Carrie who turned into the freak, when, determined to find a flaw in her man, she tore through his house trying to break through his stuff to find the negatives.

He round out their union by simply stating: ‘I thought you were actually normal.

Carrie’s childhood flame returned to her in the form of Jeremy – played by David Duchovny, however there was a slight glitch in their reunion as she discovered he is in a mental institution.

While they shared some tender moments things were not meant to be.

JOE STARR AKA THE YANKEE

While Carrie was mourning her split from Mr Big, she enjoyed a flirtation with a superstar in the form of the ‘New Yankee’, after she was dragged to a game by superfan Miranda.

Their first date was thwarted however by the appearance on Mr Big, leading Carrie to realise she was yet to heal from yet another split from he ex.

SEAN

In what would certainly be questionable behaviour now, Carrie was extremely perturbed by the fact that youthful Sean identified as bisexual.

In another superstar appearance, Carrie locked lips with Alanis Morissette in the episode, however she confirmed that it truly was only women that she was interested in kissing.
