Karren Brady, 52, has made her thoughts very clear on the government supporting the Older Drivers Task Force, who called for over-70s to take a fitness-to-drive test when they are caught driving recklessly rather than face points on their licence. It is an intervention that has been welcomed by motoring organisations, but The Apprentice star was less than impressed with the initiative.

There have been calls for older drivers to take mandatory eye tests when they go to update their licence, in an effort to reduce deaths of over-70s in crashes.
Currently, the minimum penalty for running a red light is 3 points and a £100 fine, with the points remaining on the driver’s licence for four years.
Prosecution may occur where any part of a motor vehicle crosses the white line at a red traffic light and increased penalties may be imposed to reflect more severe offences.
The report’s proposals, to be considered by ministers, state that trials should be set up to assess the benefits of fitness tests and recommend that a scheme already running in Hampshire should be introduced nationally.
But in her column for The Sun, Karren raged at the danger cold impose on other drivers on the roads.
“Should older drivers get points on their licence for running red lights?” she questioned.
“Er, surely ‘Yes, they should’, right?
“Well, not according to a new government-funded road safety report which has recommended that older drivers should be able to run red lights without getting points on their licence.”
A report is sent to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency if someone is found to be unsafe behind the wheel.
The agency will then consider whether to revoke their licence or not.
“In other cases, the driver is sent away to get lessons and offered a reassessment within three months,” Karren continued.
“Those being assessed would avoid the typical £100 fine and three points on their licence but that just does not make good sense.
“In fact, any driver who can’t see a big red light or who decides it is OK to drive through one should not be driving at all,” she retorted.
While sharing her views on older drivers, Karren also revealed how she plans on “not getting cancelled” this Christmas.
Citing the “confusing and seemingly ever-changing advice” from the government, the TV star admitted that instead of jetting off to a sunny location, she and her family are staying in the UK to be on the safe side.
She penned: “Despite dreaming last year of just how fabulous this Christmas would be, ideally in some very far-flung and hot location, I have made no plans because I can’t be bothered to change them, which seems to be an inevitability.
“I am staying in the UK with my family, and that’s it.”
She added: “That’s the only way to know for sure that we will not get cancelled.”
