Sophie Turner breaks silence after confirming split with Joe Jonas
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s divorce case is heating up – with the pair now in a messy battle over location.
In a Miami courtroom Wednesday, Joe’s lawyer made it clear that there is a standoff happening between the former couple on who will hear the case – an American or British judge.
It’s an extremely important factor in the case.
If an American judge hears the case, it gives Joe a huge home-court advantage, and the reverse is true if a UK judge gets the case.
Each party obviously wants it to happen in their home country.

Joe’s lawyer, Thomas Sasser, made it clear that based on his exchanges with Sophie’s team, she says their family had become UK-based so the divorce should be handled there.
Sophie’s lawyer did not directly respond, but sources told TMZ that is exactly what’s happening in the case.
If a UK judge handles the divorce, it’s likely the primary residence of the couples’ two kids, Willa, 3, and Delphine, 14 months, will be there.
Joe doesn’t want that to happen.
Sophie went to federal court last week claiming that her estranged husband violated an international child abduction law by refusing to hand over their childrens’ passports. She wanted to take them back to England.
That judge ruled that, for now, the kids must stay in the New York area.
The court filing, obtained by the Daily Mail, stated that both the actress and singer have agreed to restraints around their daughters’ movement.
Neither of them can take their children beyond the eight counties in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York City.
However, this agreement is only temporary and “pending further order of this court” as the couple begin their custody battle.
The document, which was filed by Sophie’s lawyer Stephen Cullen, also said that this is “to protect the well-being” of the children and to prevent “further removal or concealment” before the initial pretrial conference.
Due to the couple’s busy work schedules before their split, their daughters had been staying with Joe as he toured with his brothers Nick and Kevin.

Sophie claimed that their initial plans were for her to finish filming her series Joan, collect the kids from Joe in the US and return to the UK where they were establishing their first “forever home.”
However, Joe’s representatives told Daily Express US that the Florida court where the Jonas Brothers star filed for divorce issued an order at the beginning of the month that restricted both parents from relocating the children.
The Miami judge said in court Wednesday that he will abide by the federal judge’s ruling.
He will get the case if the federal judge says the U.S. is the appropriate place.
However, if the judge decides otherwise, a UK judge will take the case.
