Steph McGovern, 38, has taken to Instagram to share her last minute outfit change after Channel 4 bosses spotted a problem with her jacket moments before going on-air. The star was initially wearing an oversized pink chequered blazer, which she paired with a white T-shirt featuring a quirky illustration.

However, the producers of Steph’s Packed Lunch noticed that her jacket was “strobing” in the studio.

Strobing is an irregular movement and loss of continuity, which is sometimes seen in lines and stripes in a television picture.

Due to the issues Steph’s patterned jacket could have caused on-screen for viewers at home, she was forced to change her ensemble for a more camera-friendly option.

The former BBC Breakfast host, who welcomed her first baby with her partner in November 2019, then opted for a baby blue jumper, covered in a pretty cloud-inspired print.

She paired the cosy item with some black jogging bottoms and sleek white trainers.

Steph shared a behind-the-scenes insight into her quick change in view of her 8,682 Instagram followers yesterday.

The presenter shared two side-by-side images to show her transformation, revealing she was wearing the chequered jacket at 12.26pm before changing into the jumper at 12.30pm, which is when her show goes on air.

Steph wrote alongside the snaps: “Last minute change of clothes… (My jacket was strobing).”

Elsewhere, the star previously admitted “you’ve got to blag it sometimes” as she opened up on landing her job on BBC Breakfast as a news reporter.

The presenter was a part of the BBC morning show’s team for eight years before stepping down in 2019 to host her own show.

Speaking of the moment on her show Steph’s Packed Lunch, she told guest Chris Kamara: “I remember when I got the job of presenting Breakfast news, I’d been asked, ‘Have you ever done live TV before?’ And I said ‘Yes’ and I hadn’t’.”

“You’ve got to blag it sometimes in life and I told them 10 seconds before we went to air,” she added.

The host went on to explain she was speaking to former BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid at the time, while she and her co-host prepared to go live.

“Susanna Reid said ‘Good luck’ and I said ‘Thanks’.”

But when the host asked if she had done live TV before, Steph said: “No I haven’t,” which prompted the director to gasp in her ear.

Fortunately for the star, her first gig went well and she went on to become a permanent fixture on the show.

In 2019, Steph announced she had stepped down from her duties on the show to start her own programme.

During this time, she was pregnant with her first child with her partner.

She gave birth to their daughter in November 2019.

Following this, Steph returned to screens with her programme The Steph Show.
