Susan Boyle, 60, took the nation and Britain’s Got Talent judges by surprise when she belted out I Dreamed a Dream at her audition back in 2009. At first, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan believed she was a stand-up comedian as she made a series of jokes before singing.

She swiftly became a global sensation and went on to win the show in an intense final against dance group Diversity.

These days, the singer tends to keep a low profile, but returned to Heart Radio today for a new interview.

During the chat with Amanda and Jamie Theakston, Susan was quizzed on whether she still has a crush on Piers, to which joked: “Who?”

“I’m pleased to say she’s over that,” presenter Amanda chimed in.

The singer went on to say: “I respect him but I don’t fancy him.”

Heart Radio shared the clip on their Twitter page, which gathered Piers’ attention.

They wrote: “The one and only @SusanBoyle popped in to surprise @AmandaHolden and @JamieTheakston on Heart Breakfast this morning in Glasgow!

“And sorry @piersmorgan but sounds like she’s finally over you.”

The journalist shared the video in view of his eight million followers, writing: “Crushing.”

Twitter user Mark wrote: “She dreamed the dream with you @piersmorgan but I’m sure lots of other men and women wouldn’t mind your company.”

“Hang in there Piers, must be devastating to hear this in the radio,” Ronny Kroep added.

Kev joked: “The one that got away.”

Back in 2019, Susan revealed she still had a crush on Piers 10 years on from her audition.

Speaking to The Sun, she spilled: “Oh Piersy, Piersy baby.

“He’s been very good to me, I’ve always wanted to meet up with him and say thank you.

“He really was good, and what a sense of humour he had.”

In the same year, she said she was open to find a companion after splitting from a doctor she had been dating.

She told The Lady magazine: “If I had a man friend it would be purely platonic – I’ve been on my own too long now to get married.

“It’s good manners to wait to be asked, so I’ll just have to continue to keep waiting.

“If I get fan letters from men, I’m flattered that they like me.”
