Susanna Reid 'can't fit into her old dress' from Reality TV Awards

Susanna Reid admits she ‘can’t fit into her old dress’ from National Reality TV Awards due to weight gain after previously revealing she put on a stone during the first lockdown

Susanna Reid has admitted she ‘can’t fit into her old dress’ due to weight gain during lockdown.

The Good Morning Britain host, 50, has been nominated at this year’s National Reality TV Awards for keeping the nation informed and entertained during the coronavirus pandemic.

But while looking back at her appearance at the 2019 awards ceremony, Susanna told how she doesn’t think she’d fit into the same dress today after previously revealing she gained a stone during the first lockdown last year.

Nominated: Susanna Reid has admitted she ‘can’t fit into her old dress’ due to gaining weight during lockdown

Speaking over footage of herself at the awards, Susanna said: ‘This is the old hair. And I would like to point out that was pre-lockdown weight.’

Susanna won three awards at that ceremony, Best TV Presenter and Celebrity Personality of the Year and Best Talk Show for Good Morning Britain with former co-host Piers Morgan.

The broadcaster is nominated for Best Presenter and Celebrity Personality of the Year again at the 2021 ceremony.

The bash is set to take place at London’s Porchester Hall in Bayswater on July 22.

Susanna is up against fellow ITV morning show star Lorraine Kelly for Celebrity Personality, as well as Christine Lampard and Jacqueline Jossa.

Meanwhile in the Best Presenter category Susanna will take on This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and 10 Years Younger in 10 Day’s Chelsea Healey, amongst others.

Susanna is not the only television personality up for multiple awards on this year’s list of nominations.

The Chase quizzer Anne Hegerty, who appeared in the I’m A Celeb jungle in 2018, is up for the Best Female Personality award as well as the Best TV Presenter accolade for her show Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family.

And Stacey Dooley also has a chance of scooping two awards for her documentary On the Psych Ward, which has been nominated for Best Health Service TV Show and Most Inspiring TV Show this year.

It comes after Susanna claimed in March that she had put on ‘a few pounds’ during lockdown.

Speaking candidly about her weight gain on Good Morning Britain, the presenter joked to co-host Ben Shephard that ‘hot girl summer is a couple of months away’.

Her comment came as Andi Peters announced the latest competition while stood beside a pool, which prompted Susanna to reflect on her figure.

‘Hot girl summer is a couple of months away!’ Susanna claimed in March that she has put on ‘a few pounds’ during lockdown

Susanna said: ‘I’ll tell you what, it’s a little early for a swimsuit. I’ve been in lockdown, there’s a few pounds that have gone on.

‘Hot girl summer is a couple of months away. I’ll tell you.’

Her co-presenter Ben chimed in, saying her ‘work starts now though’ for them to improve their health and well-being, and Susanna agreed.

Susanna previously admitted she’d gained a stone during the UK’s lockdown last year, telling Joe Wicks she had been struggling to exercise and eat a healthy diet.

She told The Body Coach star, ‘I’m going to be battling with the lockdown stone, it went on during lockdown one. I really don’t want another one going on during lockdown two.’

Candid: Susanna (pictured before the pandemic in January 2020) said: ‘I’ll tell you what, it’s a little early for a swimsuit. I’ve been in lockdown, there’s a few pounds that have gone on’

The star has openly documented her weight loss journey after learning in 2018 that her weight meant she was at the top end of her BMI.

Susanna previously revealed that she managed to drop a stone and a half after quitting booze and cutting down on her snacking.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly in March in 2019 she said: ‘I went to a doctor because I just wanted to ask him about skin problems and he said I recommend two things.

‘One is you stop drinking or cut down on drinking and one is you lose some weight because you are at the top end of your BMI.

Honest: Susanna (pictured in January) previously admitted she’d gained a stone during the UK’s lockdown last year, telling Joe Wicks she had been struggling to exercise and eat healthily

‘It can creep up without noticing, I cut out snacking, I found waking up so early in the morning and you’re in energy deficit and all your body can think it have toast have biscuits and you can pile it one really.’

While she has given up booze, Susanna also said she hasn’t ruled out the odd little drink, and did have a cheeky tipple after hosting the Oscars live from LA.

She said: ‘I haven’t been completely abstemious when it comes to alcohol, but when we were in LA, Piers thinks I’m a dullard not drinking, so after the Oscars I thought we’re in LA, if now isn’t the time of a margarita when is? But it took two days to get over it.’

In January last year Susanna also revealed she’d decided to give up caffeine, despite her early starts on Good Morning Britain.
