Taylor Swift isn’t slowing down amid her split from Joe Alwyn. The singer’s breakup from her former boyfriend of six years was made public on April 8 (although they had reportedly already been broken up for weeks at that point). According to Entertainment Tonight sources, the pair’s decision to go their separate ways “was not dramatic” because “the relationship had just run its course.”
But Swift doesn’t seem to be dwelling on her breakup, as she was spotted grabbing dinner with her famous friends — producer Jack Antonoff and actor Margaret Qualley — at Via Carota on April 10. The Italian restaurant happens to be located a few blocks away from Cornelia Street — the same street which is also the title of one of Swift’s songs from her 2019 “Lover” album and is believed to be inspired by the early days of her love story with Alwyn.
Swift rented an apartment on Cornelia Street while her Tribeca apartment was being renovated in 2016, right around the time her romance with Alwyn was taking flight. The song’s lyrics suggest Swift felt like breaking up with Alwyn would ruin her memories of Cornelia Street, as she sings, “And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends / I’d never walk Cornelia Street again / That’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend.”
Though, after all this time, Swift’s stylish outfit and easy smile on her night out in Greenwich Village may suggest she could walk Cornelia Street and look back on her relationship with Alwyn fondly after all, as sources told People that even after the breakup, “There is a lot of respect still between them.”
