The Truth About Chad Michael Murray And Sarah Roemer’s Marriage

Chad Michael Murray was one of the hottest stars of the early 2000s, thanks to high-profile roles in the likes of One Tree Hill, Freaky Friday, and plenty more besides (via IMDb). Being one of the go-to hunks of the era meant Murray was also linked to many gorgeous famous ladies over the years, most notably his OTH co-star Sophia Bush, with whom he was involved for two years before tying the knot in 2005. As People noted, they divorced the following year under somewhat acrimonious circumstances.

Bush explained in an essay for Cosmopolitan how uncomfortable she was with the public attention on their relationship. Then, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she opined the two were “stupid kids” who “had no business being in a relationship in the first place.” Murray, for his part, has moved on and remarried with wife, and mother of his children, Sarah Roemer. None other than Bush called their union into question, however, much to both parties’ evident surprise and confusion.

The couple made it clear they're together purely for love

As E! News reported at the time, Murray and Roemer got hitched in 2015 after dating for a year. The actors met on the set of Crackle series Chosen. “I’m a romantic. I’m a family guy. I want that core,” the One Tree Hill alum gushed. The following May, the happy couple welcomed son Rex, followed by a daughter in 2017 (via Country Living).

Although all seemed well, Bush later gave a radio interview to Andy Cohen (via People), during which she quipped that marrying Murray “was not a thing I actually really wanted to do.” The actress, who was just 22 at the time she married Murray, admitted she felt pressured to go ahead with the wedding. “How do you let everybody down? And how do you, what’s the fight?” she argued. Murray described the story in a statement as “ludicrous,” noting he “would never marry for any reason but love.” The actor’s rep also noted, “Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children.” The rep noted, “He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behavior.”

Roemer herself hit back in a cheeky, since-deleted Instagram post, joking, “Wait a second… my producers also made me marry Chad Michael Murray!” Bush later claimed she was making a joke at her own expense. Regardless, Murray and Roemer remain unfazed.
