Earlier this week, Tilly Ramsay announced that she would be unable to dance in the Strictly Come Dancing live final after testing positive for COVID-19. Nonetheless, her former partner Nikita Kuzmin still took part in a number of dances during the night.

Tilly mocked one particular moment with Nikita on her Instagram story, sharing it with her 1.2 million followers alongside crying with laughter emojis.

The video in question featured a determined-looking Nikita repeatedly slamming a chair on the floor in the background.

Nikita re-shared the video, adding to Tilly: “That’s what happens when you are not here with me at the show.”

In another video on his story, Nikita announced sadly to his 106,000 followers: “Strictly’s over guys”.

“What an amazing time it was,” he added in the caption with a heart emoji.

The star also included a heartfelt post highlighting all of his and Tilly’s dances throughout the competition.

Underneath, he wrote: “From week 10 to week 1. Strictly Final is today and that makes me think of all the beautiful moments we had together @TillyRamsay.

“We had such a fun time and this was such a beautiful journey that I will cherish forever. Which was your favourite dance of ours?”

Tilly replied: “Absolutely all of them!! Thank you for being the best partner and for the most amazing 10 weeks!!”

Tilly’s mum Tana Ramsay added: “Every week was my favourite x love you two x.”

Earlier this week ahead of tonight’s hotly-anticipated show, Tilly wrote on her Instagram: “So sad to be missing the Strictly final – but sadly have tested positive for covid so will be watching from my sofa and cheering on the amazing finalists from home on Saturday night.

“Wishing everyone lots of love & good luck x Tilly,” she added with heart emojis.

Tilly was not the only celebrity to miss out on dancing tonight, as presenter AJ Odudu was also unexpectedly forced to forfeit her spot in the final.

AJ revealed that both herself and professional partner Kai Widdrington had to pull out of the competition after she tore a ligament in her right ankle.

The emotional star told fans how she was “deeply upset” that she was unable to perform and praised her “special, patient and devoted” partner Kai for training her over the past few weeks.

Strictly therefore featured an unusual two-person final tonight rather than three couples competing against one another.

In the end, it was Rose Ayling-Ellis and her Strictly partner Giovanni Pernice who won over the hearts of the British public, as they were crowned the champions of Strictly 2021.

Rose, who is deaf, had chosen to compete on the show in order to raise awareness for the deaf community.

Runner-up couple John Whaite and Johannes Radebe also made waves as, while Rose was breaking boundaries by being the first deaf contestant on the show, they were the first same-sex male couple on Strictly.

John and Johannes spoke about the importance of representing the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the competition, and John described himself as “so proud to have been part of such a diverse, groundbreaking series”.
