The seven-time Super Bowl champion, who left NFL last year and decided to play again 40 days later, announced earlier this month that he’s retiring ‘for good.’
AceShowbiz –Tom Brady wants everyone to know that he’s serious about retiring this time. According to a new report, the former NFL star has officially filed retirement papers to confirm the end of his playing career.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion filed the retirement letter on Friday, February 10, according to ESPN senior Adam Schefter. “Tom Brady officially filed a letter today with the NFL and NFLPA, reconfirming his Feb. 1 retirement,” Adam tweeted. “This letter silences any questions about whether Brady might return and now makes him eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2028.”
Earlier this month, Tom announced that he’s retiring from the NFL “for good.” In an emotional video shared on Instagram, the 45-year-old sports star said, “I’m retiring. For good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record, and let you guys know first. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much.”
Upon learning of the announcement, his now-ex-wife Gisele Bundchen left a comment on the post. The 42-year-old Brazilian beauty replied, “Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life [folded hands emoji].”
Tom previously announced plans to quit playing last year but changed his mind 40 days later and agreed to play another season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That decision reportedly caused massive friction between him and Gisele, leading to the eventual end of their marriage.
More recently, it’s unveiled that Gisele helped Tom to make his NFL exit decision. Us Weekly reported on February 8 that the model has been a “real rock” for him. A source also told the site that the former couple is on “cordial terms,” adding that they “talked this through before he came to the final decision.”
As for his plan following his NFL retirement, Tom said that he’s “excited” to explore “other parts of life” with his family. In the February 6 episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast on SiriusXM, he shared, “I look forward to exploring a lot of other parts of life that have been put aside for a time being.” He added, “I’ll feel some different things, I’m sure, as things go along, but you know, I’m doing great.”
Tom went on to add that he is “in a great space” and “excited for what’s ahead.” The former quarterback elaborated, “My friend says the future happens a day at a time, and I think with any great chapter that ends, there’s another great opportunity ahead.”
