James and Craig Revel Horwood have had an ongoing feud for some time and the latest comments have dramatically reignited it.
Craig sneered at his rival’s comments: “I think he’s obviously just trying to make headlines and get a job as a judge.
He’s desperate for my job

“Oh my god, he’s always wanted that.”
He told The Mirror: “He’s desperate for my job but he’ll never get it.”
EastEnders actress Rose, who is the first deaf contestant Strictly has ever welcomed, along with her dance partner, 31-year-old Giovanni Pernice, have been firm favourites in the running for the show’s title.
They won the hearts of audiences recently during an insightful performance where the music stopped but the couple continued to dance, hinting at how deaf people experience the world.
However, James and his wife Ola have been less impressed.
They found themselves in hot water after passing off her performances as mediocre and “average”, including in an interview by Hello! magazine.
Judge Craig was quick to counter the insults, hitting back: “She’s not average at all.
“I mean, that’s just crazy… she’s absolutely wonderful.
“I think she’s incredible and I think as a dancer she’s heartfelt, she finishes her lines really, really well.
“I completely disagree with him.”
Craig went a step further when he argued that Rose and Giovanni should reach the final “because they’ve been consistently good at every form of dance”.
The rivalry between James and Craig heated up previously for the opposite reasons – that James was perceived to have copied the judge – and Craig has promised no end in sight to the disagreement.
Last year, he told OK! magazine: “His comments and scores on Twitter always tally up with mine.
“He thinks the same as I do and it makes me laugh because he clearly wants my job!
“Honestly, we won’t make amends until he stops slagging me off!”
Craig received support on Twitter, with fans like Gemma writing: “Nowt like a bit of bitter controversy in a rather desperately vain attempt to stay relevant.”
Meanwhile, Craig has showered praise on AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, plus John Whaite and Johannes Radebe as other likely contenders to reach this year’s final.
AJ made a slip up during the action last night that saw her shame-facedly burying her head in her dance partner’s shoulders while he sent out an SOS on Instagram Stories begging for votes to save the pair from what they both felt could be an inevitable dance-off.
Craig is still backing them, though he acknowledges that “whether they’re loved at home is completely up to the public”.
Craig, 56, has been welcomed back following a recent spate of isolation after coming into accidental contact with a covid sufferer – and fans are looking forward to hearing his comments in the days to come.
