Vicky wrote in the post: ‘This is just as cute little reminder for you all to: STOP COMPARING YOURSELVES TO STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET!!!!
‘I truly believe that comparison is the thief of joy and I’ll tell you why. How many times have you been in a perfectly good mood…
‘work is going well, your fella isn’t **getting on your tts for a change, that dress you ordered from @asos has arrived and you look AMAZING in it and you’re FINALLY fitting in some you time and getting your nails done at the weekend!…
‘Absolute blinder! You’re feeling good, so you just decide to have a little scroll on Instagram and before you know it- you’re bombarded with a veritable smorgasbord of perceived perfection.
Fabulous: The 33-year-old uploaded a picture of herself sat on a her kitchen worktop for the words of wisdom
Way back when: Vicky has been candid in the past about her body battles, after shedding a huge amount of weight around the release of her fitness DVD in 2013 (pictured)
‘You continue scrolling, god knows why at this point, it has become a form of torture, it’s almost self harm by now and all you see is filtered faces, smooth skin, slender bodies, fancy cars, expensive watches, picture perfect families and smiling couples. And just like that you feel rubbish again
‘I have done this countless times… Sat and idly scrolled through social media until I don’t like my body, hate my skin, don’t feel successful.. Til I just don’t feel good enough. And the sad thing is I’ve allowed something that isn’t even real to rob me of my very real good mood.
‘Learning to love ourselves is hard enough without letting a carefully curated glimpse into someone’s life set us back
Impassioned: Vicky wrote in the post: ‘This is just as cute little reminder for you all to: STOP COMPARING YOURSELVES TO STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET!!!’
‘Don’t forget People post what they want you to see- their best angles, their best days, the best versions of themselves. But never compare a persons highlight reel to your behind the scenes footage.’
The former Geordie Shore star also provided a number of advice to help fans keeping feeling good about themselves.
They included:
- You’re doing great
- You look amazing
- No picture can make you feel inferior unless you let it- do not give an image on a tiny screen that much power
- Be kind to your body, it has just carried you through a global pandemic and you need to take pride in that
- You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be
- Order the fries
- Oh and bodies aren’t meant to be perfect… They’re meant to be REAL
She added: ‘Sending nothing but love, light and a whole buttload of positive energy to you all.’
The post comes after Vicky revealed her desire to have babies with boyfriend Ercan Ramadan – but confirmed she isn’t pregnant.
In an exclusive interview, Vicky told MailOnline she is hoping to start a family one day, after moving to a bigger property and ‘permanently settling down’ in Essex.
The former Queen of the I’m a Celebrity jungle said: ‘I truly believe that comparison is the thief of joy’
She said: ‘Lockdown has been a huge transitional period for me. We’ve moved house, and given the fact we’ve been through a global pandemic I do feel like I’m doing quite well.
‘We definitely needed a bigger place, I owned my property in Brentwood for five years and I absolutely loved it, it was the first property I bought when I left the jungle.
‘I was dead excited moving to the big smoke. I felt like I was little country mouse packing up and moving out to the big city.
‘But over the last five years a lot has changed, I’ve got a lovely partner in my life, this move is pretty permanent for the foreseeable, I am setting roots down here. Who knows what’s going to happen in the future…
‘In years to come, I would love to fill this house with little feet, but for the moment I’m taking my time and embracing the move and potentially a puppy. It’s definitely going to be dogs soon.’
