Vogue Williams reflects on her split from first husband Brian McFadden

‘I blame Australia!’: Vogue Williams reflects on her split from first husband Brian McFadden after she moved across the world to be with him

Vogue Williams has admitted moving to Australia was the cause of her marriage breakdown.

The Irish presenter, 37, divorced Westlife singer Brian McFadden, 42, in 2015, three years after tying the knot and is now married to Made In Chelsea star, Spencer Matthews, 34.

Speaking on her podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, she was offering a listener advice on relocating for a relationship and opened up about her own experience.

Reading out the dilemma, she explained the listener was upset that her partner was moving to Australia and didn’t know whether to call things off or move to be with him.

Vogue quipped: ‘I also blame Australia for my first marriage, but anyway… why don’t you go to Australia, why hasn’t he invited you over?’

She then joked: ‘Do what I did, follow a relationship to Australia, it will work out really well! Move to Australia with him, it’s a nice place, it’s warm, it’s sunny!’

The mother-of-three went on to note: ‘When you meet the one that didn’t get away –  after the one you thought got away – you’ll realise the one that you thought got away isn’t the one that got away… because he was c**p!’

Fellow podcast host Joanne McNally was in agreement, saying: ‘There isn’t the one that got away because if they were into you they wouldn’t have got away – they left!’

Vogue met Brian in May 2011 and shortly afterwards she moved from Ireland to Oz to live with him while he worked as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.

Brian proposed eight months later and they wed in Tuscany in September 2012, yet three years later and shortly after moving back to Ireland they announced their split.

Vogue previously revealed that she wasn’t speaking to her mother and was grieving the death of her father when she met Brian and wanted to ‘run away’ to be with him.

‘I see now it might have been better if I hadn’t run, and if Brian had lived in Ireland;’ she explained. ‘I would have been with him anyway, but he lived in Australia, so I went there.’

‘I was always such a planner, so my family were, like, “What’s she doing? What’s going on? Her career’s gong really well over here; why is she leaving?” But I suppose I just ran away from it. At the time, I saw no reason not to. But looking back, I see that I wanted to get away from the grief.

Meanwhile, Brian blamed being away from their loved ones for their demise, saying: ‘I think she was probably getting a bit edgy in Australia, just being the two of us.’

The couple announced their split in a tweet that read: ‘It is with sadness that Brian and I have made the tough decision to go our separate ways…

‘We will always care about each other, remain friends and wish each other all the very best for the future.’

Vogue, who shares Theodore, four, Gigi, two, and Otto, 10 months, with her second husband Spencer, previously said of the split: ‘That was probably the worst my anxiety has ever been…

‘And since then I’ve never had it as bad. Since then it’s been a work-in-progress because I started to see a therapist and I became very mindful of my training, of the way I was eating…

‘Everything shifted after I was more careful of myself. You don’t realise how fragile you can be until you’ve gone through something like that — but now I don’t get it so much because I live with Spenny.’

Vogue and Spencer tied the knot in June 2018 in an intimate ceremony in Scotland while she was seven months pregnant with their first child.

The couple threw a second lavish back in London for all their friends and family to attend the following year.
