Will Arnett 'cried for hour' on side of road after Amy Poehler split

Will Arnett says he ‘cried for an hour’ on the side of the road after split from Amy Poehler… as he reflects on ‘brutal’ divorce

Will Arnett revealed intimate details about the aftermath of his divorce to Amy Poehler in an interview with The Guardian.

The actor, 51, married the actress, 50, in 2003. They separated nine years later in 2012.

The Bojack Horseman star was filming a revival of Arrested Development at the time which he called an ‘excruciating’ experience.

‘Just brutal, brutal, brutal,’ he said. ‘I was driving to the set one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour.’

The Blades of Glory actor said one of the hardest parts of their divorce was the intense media scrutiny he and Poehler faced.

‘People talk about you like they know you and they talk about your relationship as if they know what’s going on,’ Arnett said.

Emotional: ‘Just brutal, brutal, brutal,’ he said. ‘I was driving to the set one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour (Will pictured in 2020)

He continued, ‘So imagine how weird that is. It’s brutal with any relationship, and we have kids. And without getting into specifics, you then see stuff online, like, this one journalist wrote: “I’m Team Amy” I’m like: “You’re a grown person. What are you talking about? This is a breakup. This is a family. This isn’t some game.”‘

Despite their messy divorce and aftermath, Arnett said the pair have been doing a much better job co-parenting their two sons lately.

‘It’s been almost 10 years and my kids are so lucky that Amy is their mother,’ he said. ‘And I’m so lucky that we’re such a huge part of each other’s lives, even more so than we were five years ago.’

The pair share 13-year-old Archie and 11-year-old Abel.

Still working hard: As for his professional life, Arnett has a new unscripted comedy series called Murderville out on Netflix (pictured on show with Ken Jeong)

Though his divorce was clearly painful, Arnett has found love again with his current girlfriend Alessandra Brawn, 34.

The happy couple began dating sometime in 2019 and accompanied each other at that year’s Creative Arts Emmys, according to People.

It was revealed that Arnett and Brawn were expecting their first child together in February.

Brawn gave birth to baby son Alexander, just three months later in May.

As for his professional life, Arnett has a new unscripted comedy series called Murderville out on Netflix. He also recently completed filming on an upcoming sports comedy titled Next Goal Wins, a role which he took over from Armie Hammer.
