As fans of the To All the Boys franchise wait on the edge of their seats for the Feb. 12 release of the third installment, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, there is already news on a potential fourth film.
Although there are only three books in author Jenny Han’s To All the Boys YA series, actor Noah Centineo, who stars as Peter Kavinsky in the movies, recently told Variety that he would be on board with filming a fourth film if Han agrees to add a fourth novel to her trilogy. “If Jenny Han writes a fourth book, sign me up!” he proclaimed to the outlet.
After Han’s first book of the series, 2014’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, was turned into a movie of the same name for Netflix in 2018, her second novel, 2015’s P.S. I Still Love You, saw the same fate in 2020. Now, in just one day’s time, a film based on her third book, which was released in 2017, will debut on Netflix.
While there is no official word from Netflix in regards to a fourth film, the company did respond to a since-deleted post by Han on Twitter where she quoted Centineo’s remark in Variety. As Fansided shared, Netflix called “dibs” on the potential flick.
Lana Condor appears to be on board with a fourth film as well
In addition to Netflix’s positive reaction to a future fourth To All the Boys book and movie, Lana Condor, who stars as lead Lara Jean, replied to Han’s 2020 tweet with one of her own: she’s on board. “Slow claps all around,” she wrote. As for Centineo, as he reflected on the success of the To All the Boys movies to Variety in 2020, he admitted that he couldn’t have predicted how popular the adaptations would become when he agreed to appear in the first film years ago.
“I had just signed with CAA because they had gotten a link to the film, and they were very excited,” he recalled. “And they told me that Netflix was going to put a big marketing budget behind it as a part of the Summer of Love campaign … my mentality has always been, I’m not going to count my chickens before they hatch. And even when they hatch, some of them will die. So I try to be prepared for everything and expect moderation.”
