Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 56, has hit back at The Wall Street Journal journalist Jeff Yang, telling him he’d rather “shove a virtuous fork up his a**” after becoming embroiled in a row over Simone Biles’ performance at the Olympics. The ITV presenter has been vocal about the US gymnast’s decision to withdraw from certain events to protect her mental health, as she made her last appearance on the vault last week.

However, upon her comeback yesterday, the gymnast won a bronze medal in the balance beam final at the Tokyo games.
After suffering with the “twisties”, a kind of mental block for gymnasts, the American made the decision to pull out of the uneven bars, floor, vault, and all-round events.
But Simone went on to place third on the balance beam, causing American writer Jeff to commend her for her return.
However, once again, outspoken media personality Piers took issue with her placing anywhere but first place.
Addressing the gymnast’s achievement, Jeff applauded her for coming third after she revealed she was suffering from a mental block.
He said: “History should acknowledge that @Simone_Biles returning from a dangerous psychological condition to win a bronze in what was likely her final Olympic event as one of the truly incredible feats in sports history.
“The white-guy ‘pundits’ who trashed her almost certainly won’t,” he added.
Despite not directly tagging Piers, the former newspaper editor responded to the tweet by comparing her win to the Masters Tournament in golf.
He penned: “This ridiculous virtue-signalling hyperbole has to stop.
“Good on @Simone_Biles for getting back out there today but coming 3rd on the Beam was hardly Tiger [Woods] winning the Masters again.”
Seemingly riled by his lack of congratulations for the 24-year-old gymnast, the American writer hit back at Piers.
He replied: “One of these days there’ll be a fork in the road where @piersmorgan has the choice between being a turd and being a human and he will actually choose human
“But not today. Not today.”
However, the controversial journalist was quick to hit back, claiming he’d rather “shove the virtuous fork” elsewhere.
“Honestly Jeff, if the virtuous fork is pointing your way, I’d rather shove it up my a**,” he said.
Ahead of yesterday’s beam final, Piers caused outrage after he publicly took credit for the gymnast’s return.
In view of his seven million followers, Piers tweeted: “UPDATE: Simone has taken my advice and will compete in tomorrow’s Beam final. Good luck, Champ.”
However, Cecile Landi, who has been Biles’ personal coach since 2017, was unimpressed and slammed the former GMB host for his comments.
She retweeted Morgan with the words, “Don’t you dare take any credit for this you”, adding a number of red angry face emojis.
Four-time gold medallist Biles pulled out of the women’s gymnastics team final after scoring 13.766nn, her lowest Olympic score, before penning a statement telling fans she was prioritising her mental health.
