IF you're wanting to pop into your local bank this Bank Holiday Monday, then you'll want to check ahead to see if it's open.
Most banks are closed on weekends – and some may be closed on Bank Holiday Monday too.
It's always worth checking ahead with your local bank branch to see if it's open before making a trip.
We explain all you need to know about which banks are open over the long weekend.
HSBC
When we checked whether HSBC branches were open over the long weekend using its online branch locator tool, we spotted that most would be closed.
If you need to contact HSBC over the long weekend, you should be able to use the bank app or website’s live chat, reach out on social media or call the bank on 03457 404 404.
But on its website, HSBC said its contact centres are extremely busy – so it might be better avoiding calling up and going online instead.
Barclays
All of Barclays branches will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday.
But you can see where your nearest one is using the bank's branch locator tool.
However, you can still use Barclays online banking services and its app to do your banking.
But if you need help, head to Barclays' website to its contacts page where it explains how to get help depending on what your problem is.
Lloyd’s Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland
Lloyds Banking Group includes Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyd's Bank.
It hasn't published a list of opening times over the bank holiday weekend for all its branches across the UK.
But we had a look at opening times at several branches, and noticed many were closed on Bank Holiday Monday.
It's best to check ahead with your local branch if it's opening.
You can do this using branch locator tools on Lloyd's Bank, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland's websites.
The customer service lines for each bank are as follows:
- Bank of Scotland: 0345 721 3141
- Halifax: 0345 720 3040
- Lloyd's Bank: 0345 300 0000
Metro Bank
Metro Bank says it is open seven days a week nearly every day of the year – apart from New Year's Day, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
It opens stores from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
If you want to check where your nearest branch is, use its store locator tool on its website.
If you have an urgent enquiry, you can call Metro Bank on 0345 080 8500.
Call centres will be open every day from 10am to 6.30pm apart from Saturday when they will operate from 8am to 8pm.
NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland
NatWest and sister bank Royal Bank of Scotland are closing all branches on Bank Holiday Monday.
That means you won't be able to go to your local branch if you need any help with your banking.
Both banks' phone lines will be operating usual hours.
If you need to speak to NatWest, you can call 03457 888 444 or send a message through the app.
Meanwhile, RBS customers can call the bank on 03457 242424.
TSB
You can check where your nearest bank branch is using TSB's branch locator tool.
We used it to check when some branches would be open over Bank Holiday Monday, and it looks like some will be open.
For example, TSB's branch in Harlesden looks like its open from 9am until 3:30pm.
However, to avoid a wasted trip, its best to check ahead with your local branch to see if it's planning on opening.
If your nearest branch is closed and you need help, try using TSB's online chat or you can call the bank on 020 3284 1575.
Santander
Santander hasn't published a list of branches that will be closed or running different opening times.
But when we used its store locator tool on its website, we saw that some branches appeared to be open on Bank Holiday Monday.
For example, its website says its branch in London's Strand will be open from 9:30am until 4:30pm.
Again, check ahead with your local Santander to see if it's open to avoid disappointment.
Those who urgently need help can call the helpline on 0800 01 56 38.
Nationwide
Again, Nationwide hasn't published a full list of when its 650 banks will be closing over the long weekend.
But we checked using its branch locator tool and saw many branches were planning to close on Bank Holiday Monday.
If you need to get in touch with Nationwide, then head to its website.
It will give you a list of numbers you need to call depending on what your query is.
Or, you can use its online banking services – or use the app – to still do your banking.
