Baby girl rocks generous mane of hair at only five-months-old

A shock of hair indeed! Mother whose five-month-old was born with a generous mane reveals she spends all her time blow drying and styling her daughter’s locks

  • Arabèlla Luciá Clocherty-Kernachan, five months, born with generous locks
  • Mother Jennifer, 24, from Renfrew, Scotland was gobsmacked when baby born
  • Arabèlla came out of womb via c-section in September, sporting curly, dark hair
  • Now, Jennifer loves to style, blow-dry and comb her adorable daughter’s do

A five-month old baby who was born with thick dark hair stuns onlookers with her luscious locks and even left her mum confused as to whether she was actually her child.

Arabèlla Luciá Clocherty-Kernachan left her mum, Jennifer, 24, from Renfrew, Scotland, gobsmacked when midwives revealed her dark brown curls just hours after she was born by C-section in September.

Jennifer, who is fair-haired joked she thought Arabèlla could not be her child with such a generous head of hair.

The mum-of-two says she has been forced to leave her own hair in a bun because she now spends her time constantly combing and styling her daughter’s incredible do.

Jennifer said she now spends more time styling her daughter’s hair than she spends on her own mane (pictured)

Jennifer said: ‘She was born by c-section so I didn’t see her straight away and when I did see her they’d put a hat on her so I didn’t know she had any hair.

‘I asked the midwife to take her hat off so I could look at her properly and I just saw the biggest mass of black hair.

‘I said “oh my god that can’t be my child”, I thought it was absolutely crazy.

‘I’ve been combing her hair every five minute since we came home from the hospital and gave her a first proper wash.

When Arabèlla was born via C-section in September, Jennifer was so shocked by her mane, she thought she couldn’t be her baby

‘I spend more time doing her hair than my own, I’ve got a comb and baby brush and a bottle of water with me at all times because it gets knotty and matted after every nap.

‘But people absolutely love her hair, she gets people stopping us and commenting all the time telling us how beautiful she is that it makes us feel like all the upkeep is worth it.’

But keeping up a beautiful barnet can be painful even when your mum is your personal stylist.

Jennifer said she had fun playing with her daughter’s hair and styling to achieve adorable dos, like these two buns

Footie with daddy! Jennifer said she’s tried everything to tame her daughter’s locks, but Arabèlla’s mane is still unruly

Jennifer, who works as a customer service assistant at Sky, said there can be tears when it comes to combing Arabèlla’s post-nap knotty locks.

She said: ‘I’ve tried everything to keep it out of her face but it’s so unruly that little baby hair bands don’t even work anymore.

‘If we put it in bunches her hair is that thick it stays upright when we take them out.

‘It can get a bit stressful combing the tugs out too, she doesn’t like it much, but I can’t blame her, I hated it at five never mind five months old.

‘All of my other mum friends always tell me they’re so jealous and say I’m so lucky but I do sometimes think you don’t know the half of it!’
