There is no law saying you have to go darker in the winter, and to prove it Bella Hadid has gone against the flow and lightened up for winter instead of darkening down. Now here’s a thing, this is, in fact, the second time we’ve been sideswiped with ‘Bella Gone Blonde’ news this month, but this time it’s a little different.
The first time it happened, in pictures that came out only last week, Bella wore a blonde wig for a shoot in Chaos magazine. That look was created by hair supremo Sam McKnight and it was quite the change. Bella’s hair was a proper Marilyn-style platinum blonde shade, and curled up in 1950s rings for the shoot.
Anyway, that flirtation with the lighter side obviously gave the Model of the Year something to think about because this time, we’re thrilled to say, she’s gone and done it for real.
Bella debuted the look on her Instagram stories with the words, “Feeling a little better & a little blonder”, and she’s been photographed since then in casual shots as she goes about her skiing holiday in the swanky US resort of Aspen.
Rather than the cool platinum shade she sported in the shoot, this is a warmer, caramel honey blonde and was created by New York colourist Jenna Perry, who revealed in Vogue that she and the model had been mooting a lighter colour for some time. “We’re calling this shade ‘Baby Bella; or ‘Aspen Blonde',” she said. Expect that to start being quoted in salons around the world.
To show just how cute she felt with the new colour, Bella added a teddy bear filter over the top of the pictures, but both her colourist and her stylist, Jessica Gillin, shared shots of Bella and sister Gigi Hadid with matching honey shades, sans teddies. As the images were shared, fans quickly started giving the look the thumbs up, and comparing her to her equally beautiful sister.
“Oh my god she looks so much like Gigi!” said one, and we can definitely see the similarity.
Now both of them are beautiful blondes, maybe they’ll have twice as much fun.
