Ellen Degeneres hit headlines this week after it was reported that she’s ending her talk show after 19 years on air.
The 63 year old comedian has interviewed a huge host of celebrities over the course of the show’s nearly two decade-long run, but a source told MailOnline: “The ratings have tanked and have been truly appalling this year and Ellen knows her time is up.”

What is Ellen Degeneres’ net worth?
After her long-spanning career, Ellen’s net worth is estimated at a huge $370 million (£263 million), according to Forbes.
The star made the number 12 spot on Forbes’ most recent list of the highest-paid celebrities in the world, and on top of this, Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi has her own $50 million fortune.
Ellen began her career as a stand-up comedian and starred in the TV series Ellen from 1994 to 1998, and then The Ellen Show from 2001 to 2002.
Her daytime talk show The Ellen DeGeneres show has consistently had high ratings, until recent controversies.
The star has been the host of the Oscars twice, in 2007 and 2014, and her iconic selfie with A-listers such as Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey, made history.
Ellen also famously voiced the character Dory in the 2003 Pixar films Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, and she had success behind the camera too with her production company A Very Good Production.
Ellen launched Ellentube in 2014 and she’s ventured into the worlds of beauty and fashion, and, in 2009, became the face of COVERGIRL.

She’s been the spokeswoman for JCPenney and American Express and owns a lifestyle brand, ED by Ellen, which launched in 2015.
Ellen and her wife Portia are known for their purchasing of swanky properties which they then rent to fellow celebs.
They became Nick Jonas’ landlord in 2015 as he rented one of Ellen’s many homes.
Together, Ellen and Portia bought a mid-century modern LA mansion in January 2014 for a whopping $40 million and they sold it to Sean Parker six months later for $55 million.
Ellen received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November 2016, and, at the time, President Obama said: “It’s easy to forget now just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages 20 years ago.”
Ellen has won a string of other awards, including Teen Choice Awards and Daytime Emmy Awards.
