Emmerdale’s Aaron Anthony’s life off screen and previous appearance in hit Netflix show

It's not unusual to see a TV character replaced with a new actor nowadays, and it happens most frequently over in soap land.

Avid soap opera watchers will be able to recall numerous iconic characters who have undergone what fans call a 'head transplant' over the years, from EastEnders' Ben Mitchell to Corrie's Max Turner.

One notable replacement was that of Ellis Grant over on Emmerdale, with original actor Asan N'Jie being replaced frictionlessly with Aaron Anthony in 2019. Aaron has stayed in the role ever since, becoming a staple to our TV screens.

While we've got to know Aaron's version of Ellis well over recent years, what do we know about the actor away from the cameras?

Who is Aaron Anthony?

Aaron is 30 years old, and first appeared on screen when he was just six years old.

The actor featured in an episode of Midsomer Murders in 1997, before going on to pursue acting as a career.

Aaron studied Professional Acting at Bristol's Old Vic Theatre School, graduating with a Bachelor's degree 2013.

After graduating, Aaron landed roles on various different shows, including Holby City and Doctors.

His big break came in 2017 however, when he was cast in the series Delicious. The actor appeared in eight episodes, starring alongside Dawn French and Iain Glenn.

In 2019, it was announced that Aaron would take on the role of Ellis Grant in Emmerdale. The character was originally portrayed by Asan N'Jie, but he was fired by soap bosses after a confrontation with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards in 2019.

Alongside his role on the soap, Aaron also appeared in hit Netflix series Behind Her Eyes, which aired earlier this year. He features in four episodes of the series, as the father of Louise's child.

The actor filmed for the series before he began working on Emmerdale, but the binge-worthy series was only released earlier this year.

Aside from TV roles, Aaron has also appeared in a variety of theatre productions, including Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe and the West End production of Shakespeare in Love.

Despite his soap star status, he keep his private life out of the limelight, and his only known social media is a Twitter account which he updates occasionally.
