Emmerdale’s Liv star Isobel Steele’s life off screen from boyfriend to music career

After just six short years on Emmerdale, Isobel Steele has cemented her place in the hearts of many fans in her iconic role as Liv Flaherty.

Joining the soap as a fresh faced fifteen year old, Isobel flexed her acting chops in a variety of high profile storylines over the years, as her character Liv tackled a variety of issues being faced by many young people today.

Whether it was addressing Liv’s sexuality as she struggled with peer pressure before revealing she is asexual, or tackling the very real issue of teenage alcoholism, Isobel’s continued commitment to the show manifested in her growing fan following.

But what exactly is her life like off screen?

How old is Isobel and where did she grow up?

Born to Prestwich couple Lauren and Phil, on 28 December 2000, Isobel is currently 21 years old.

Growing up in and around, Greater Manchester, Isobel attended Phillips High School in Whitefield, Bury – the same school attended by her co-star Charlie Webb, who is best known for playing Debbie Dingle.

It was while attending the school in 2017, that she briefly took a break from Emmerdale to sit her GCSE exams.

Where does she live now?

Isobel still resides in Manchester, in a spacious home alongside her two pet pups, Rupert and Ralph.

Often sharing glimpses inside her home on social media, many eagle eyed fans have noticed her personality shining through in her quirky choice of furnishings and stylish decor, which includes a bright yellow armchair.

The open plan home ditches doorways in favour of spacious archways, with white walls and wooden flooring providing an optimum and easy to clean home.

A variety of unique ornaments and decorations including a large framed fan adorn the walls, while photographs and fairy lights add a playful touch to her home.

Did she have many acting roles before Emmerdale?

Prior to appearing on Emmerdale, Isobel had mostly starred in commercials for household names such as Bernard Matthews, Iceland, and Harvey’s furniture store.

She did, however, also take on a few acting roles in 2014’s TV mini series Our Zoo, a short film entitled A Father’s Day, and a guest role in one episode of children’s favourite The Dumping Ground.

Is Isobel single?

No information has currently been confirmed about Isobel’s relationship status, as the star prefers to keep her private life out of the limelight – but she did recently confirm that despite rumours to the contrary, she and her Vinnie Dingle co-star Bradley Johnson are simply “close friends.”

The pair had been seen enjoying numerous outings together both on and off screen, leading many fans at home to wonder if there could be something romantic on the cards for the couple – however, Isobel, laughed off such rumours as she answered them outright once and for all.

Isobel told Metro: "Brad is wonderful and such a good friend of mine. We are very similar and work really well together when we have scenes just us two.

"I can see why people jumped to conclusions, seeing two characters spending time together on and off-screen!”

She added: "For the record, me and Brad are not in a relationship. We are just very good friends who enjoy each other’s company out of work as well as in work.”

Prior to the rumours, Isobel had also been linked to Dillon Pickup, but no confirmation for either relationship has ever been established.

Outside of acting does she have any other hobbies and interests?

Outside of her role in the dales, Isobel is a keen and talented musician, with the young star hoping to one day pursue a career in the music industry.

No stranger to performing, Isobel has wowed crowds at several high profile events over the years, including her singing debut, when she performed in front of a crowd of 400 people to help raise money at a charity night organised by her on-screen brother Aaron Dingle actor, Danny Miller, back in 2017.

A music lover at heart, the star even has a whole room in her home devoted to her love of it, with a drum kit, guitars and mixing software all present in her lavish pad.

Is she leaving Emmerdale?

Although no confirmation has officially been given by an Emmerdale spokesperson, reports suggest that fan favourite Isobel may soon be departing the dales during the explosive 50th anniversary celebrations taking place.

According to The Sun, a source revealed: “She feels like she’s done all she can at Emmerdale and wants to focus on her music career and make a real go of it.

“Bosses have pulled out all the stops for the 50th anniversary month and Isobel’s exit will be no different.

“Viewers are going to be on the edge of their seats as it all plays out and Liv is killed off. It’s a real heartbreaker, a death fans will remember for a long time to come.”
