While soap fans know all about their favourite EastEnders stars on-screen families, less is known about their real-life broods off-screen.

Let’s take a look at the stars' real-life families and which of the actors are parents to their own children.

Natalie Cassidy

Natalie Cassidy has been busy homeschooling her two young daughters during the school closures.

The star took a break from EastEnders to dedicate her time to Eliza Beatrice Cottrell, born in September 2010 and Joanie Elizabeth Cassidy-Humphreys, born August 2016.

Eliza’s dad is Natalie’s former boyfriend Adam Cottrell while Joanie’s Dad is her husband, EastEnders cameraman, Marc Humphreys.

Natalie, who started on the show when she was just 10, has previously said that she wouldn’t want either of her daughters to act until they were adults.

“I wouldn’t want them to do it because I don’t know what it’s like to not be recognised,” says Natalie.

“It’s not a bad thing, because I’m so used to it, but I’d like her to retain her anonymity. I think it’s important. I’d like her to have that for her life, really. I don’t want her to have what I’ve had.”

Patsy Palmer

Patsy Palmer is mum to Dunkirk star Charley Palmer Rothwell.

Since calling time on Bianca Jackson's role, Patsy relocated to the LA in the US where Charley made his name.

Charley, whose Dad is Patsy’s ex Alfie Rothwell, has also starred alongside Tom Hardy in the film Legendary and Winston Churchill biopic, The Darkest Hour.

Patsy also has three children with her husband Richard Merkell – Fenton, 21, Emilia, 19, and Bertie, 10.

Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer is a father of three children he shares with wife Joanne Mas.

While everyone might be familiar with his eldest daughter Love Island winner Dani Dyer, she also has two younger siblings.

Danny is also dad to 12-year-old Sunnie, who has appeared in ITV’s game show Big Star’s Little Star in 2015 and a 6-year-old son called Arty.


Arty was born prematurely in 2013, and the actor has admitted he thought they might lose him at one point.

He wrote in his book Life Lessons from the East End: “This was the first kid I’d had that I thought, `This could go wrong’.”

His eldest daughter Dani recently gave birth to a son making Danny and Joanne grandparents as well.

Dean Gaffney

Dean Gaffney, best known for his role as Robbie Jackson, is Dad to 23-year-old twins Charlotte and Chloe whom he shares with his former childhood sweetheart Sarah Burge.

During the first lockdown, Dean shared a photo of him and his daughters with the caption: 'Family really is everything at this time.'


Dean and Sarah split in 2015 following claims of infidelity.

Speaking previously about his unfaithfulness to his daughters’ mum, Sarah, he said: "Women were my drug and now, looking back, I'm ashamed of my past.

"How many times did it happen? I couldn't put a finger on it. Whenever Sarah confronted me about my cheating, I'd just deny, deny, deny.”

June Brown

Dot Cotton actress June Brown and her late husband Dixon of Dock Green actor Robert Arnol are parents to five children their youngest Naomi who is 52, William, Chloe, Sophie and their eldest Lousie Arnold is 62.

Asked whether she was a good mother on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, June replied: “No, I don’t think I was. I think I could’ve been.”

“I wasn’t a natural mother,” the 93-year-old continued. “I love my children, but it was a lot of work.”

She added: “I don’t think I could have done anything else, quite honestly. I’d have been very depressed, very miserable.

“I was a bit selfish, I suppose.”

Steve McFadden

Phil Mitchell actor Steve McFadden has five children who have four different mums.

He had his first child, Matthew, now 32, with his childhood sweetheart, Sue Marshall.

He then had daughters Teona, 22, and Mollie, 16, with ex-girlfriend, Angela Bostock.

He had his daughter Amelie, 11, with Rachel Sidwell, who he split with a couple of months after her birth.

While his current partner, Karen Cairns, is mum to his five-year-old daughter, Frankie.
