Liverpudlian storage hack genius Joel Thomas has recently discovered a new home hack that has transformed his weekly chore routine.
Forget clothes horses and tumble dryers, Joel has been using his blinds to hang up his washing.
Explaining exactly how he made it work, the 247 Blinds customer said:
“My wife had been complaining that she didn’t have enough space to dry our laundry – which is a regular occurence in our busy home! She was adamant that she didn’t want to buy a clothes horse as we only have a tiny terrace house and already struggle for space, so I suggested hanging the washing on the venetian blinds above the radiator.
“She was totally against the idea to begin with, worried that the wet washing would end up pulling down our newly-replaced blinds.
"I managed to persuade her that they would be strong enough to hold up some light laundry and so she came home to the blinds having become home to all our socks and smalls!
"It works really well for smaller items of clothing and underwear and now it’s become a staple part of our weekly washing regime."
Michelle Wall, Interior Consultant at 247 Blinds, also shared her advice for those looking to try this storage hack.
She said: “Start by giving your blinds a quick wipe to eliminate any dust or dirt from the surface before placing items on top.
"When it comes to hanging, be careful not to place anything too heavy on the blind as this could pull it down, or damage them.
"A tip would be to keep the weight distributed evenly across the blinds to avoid pressure being in one area.”
The hack comes after Mrs Hinch fans recently shared a 'game-changing' hack to dry clothes quickly without a tumble dryer.
The suggestion came after one woman asked for some drying advice.
She wrote on a Facebook group: "Could I ask how you all dry your washing indoors? I use a dryer and hang non-dryer items in the hall on a rail but I have put it away due to having lots of people over.
"I wish I had a utility space but I turned that into a home office. How do you guys dry your washing?"
Many agreed dehumidifier's are great for drying clothes quickly and helping to reduce the build-up of mould.
One person wrote: "I have had a dehumidifier for years, it helps to speed up drying clothes too."
While another added: "I have very limited radiator space in my house so I will put some of my drying on a rack and place a dehumidifier right near to it.
"Not only am I no longer worried about mould building up, it makes clothes dry so much quicker, it’s a game changer."
