Inside Ruth Langsford’s ‘family tradition’ after spoiling son’s girlfriend on 21st birthday

On Saturday,Ruth Langsfordhosted a magnificent birthday party for her son Jack's girlfriend, and she shared a glimpse of the stunning table setting on Instagram, which seems to have become somewhat of a “family tradition”.

The Loose Women presenter, 63, had meticulously planned the decor, choosing a delightful pastel pink color scheme and incorporating fresh flowers, themed plates, balloons, and even a 21 badge for the birthday girl.

Ruth also revealed the pile of gifts and birthday cake she had organised, complete with large ‘21’ candles on the cake that the birthday girl is seen blowing out at the end of the video.

She shared a video to Instagram of the decorations and said: "Jack's girlfriend's 21st birthday… had to do a table didn't I?!"

Back in February, Ruth and Eamonn threw an equally impressive dinner party with a stunning silver and gold themed tablescape for their son Jack's 21st birthday. In a post, she said: "A wonderful weekend spent celebrating our son Jack's 21st birthday… where did those years go?!

"Had to do my birthday table of course… it's family tradition!"

It seems fans were suitably impressed with Ruth extending the gesture to Jack’s girlfriend.

One person said: "Wish you were my mother-in-law, beautiful."

Another commented: "Beautiful, you will make the perfect mother-in-law."

And a third added: "That is such a nice thing to do for your son's girlfriend! She must really feel like part of the family."

It seems it’s not just birthdays where Ruth goes to town with the table decorations, as Ruth shared a glimpse at her adorable Easter decorations over on her Instagram. The table featured yellow place mats with matching napkins, carrot shaped napkin rings and even Easter crackers.

The table was decorated with adorable rabbits and fresh flowers placed along a fake grass table runner, as well as an abundance of Easter eggs dotted around the room.

The video caption read: “Happy Easter everyone! The table is set (last night!) the sideboard is done….let’s hope the Easter Bunny is generous! Have a lovely day.”

The festivities were held at Ruth's spacious£3.25m Surrey residence , which she shares with her television presenter husband, Eamonn Holmes.

Ruth and Eamonn's son, Jack, is their only child and is currently away studying in his third year of university although returns home for the holidays. Eamonn has three other children, Declan, 32, Rebecca, 30, and Niall, 28, whom he shares with his ex-wife Gabrielle Holmes.

Ruth has admitted in the past that it felt like her "womb had been ripped out" when Jack left home back in 2020 to attend university.

Speaking in an interview with Woman and Home magazine, Ruth said: “I truly understand the pain of empty nest syndrome.

“The day we dropped off Jack at university, we said goodbye and, as we got around the corner, I burst into tears.

"It sounds dramatic but for the next three days, I felt like I’d had my womb ripped out. It was pain."
