One of Britain’s most eligible Viscounts will be tie the knot with his girlfriend in one of the year’s most resplendent society weddings this weekend, making her the new Vicsountess Newport.

The Earl of Bradford’s son and heir, Alexander, Viscount Newport will wed property consultant Eliza Liepina in a lavish ceremony taking place near the former family seat in Shropshire.

And the couple haven’t been shy about splashing the cash for the lavish ceremony at Weston Park, with reports claiming  event will costing the young couple at least half a million.

The pair will tie the knot on the estate’s church – with some guests forced to watch on a screen due to limited capacity – and will enjoy pre-wedding dinner, drinks party, black-tie bash of 190 and a brunch over the space of four days.

Eliza, 31, was born in Latvia, where her parents endured life under Soviet communism before leaving for a fresh start in New Zealand and currently splits her time between London and her fiancée’s family home.

While she currently works as a self-employed property consultant, she has worked for esteemed global firms and has worked on famous buildings including the Beekman in New York.

And it seems her family are over the moon with the union, with her mother Jo telling the Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare: ‘I’m thrilled. She’s a super girl and they’re madly in love.’

Eliza studied at the University of Auckland, the highest-ranked university in New Zealand, where she earned a degree in Commercial Law and Operational Management.

After leaving university she worked as a Development Manager at Auckland-based hospitality company before moving to New York to work for a property firm providing co-working spaces.

After undergoing various global projects for the firm, Eliza moved on to London-based agency Soho Form, where she remained until March 2019.

Eliza shared Instagram snaps of herself enjoying a low-key Christmas with pals and her fiance with a suitably opulent backdrop

While working for the firm she helped design the 2,000 sqft Ophelia cocktail lounge on the 26th floor of the Beekman Tower in Manhattan.

The lounge harbours a fascinating history, originally serving as a women’s-only club and hotel space for national sororities, opening up to both genders in 1934 when the Panhellenic Tower was rebranded as the Beekman Tower.

‘You have a responsibility to the history of the space and the community of the building,’ Liepina told the Independent in 2018.

‘As well as a responsibility to create a space that actually works for the people that will use it in the future.’

Currently living in London while paying frequent visits to Shropshire, Eliza enjoys a lavish life with her fiance and their pet dog.

Eliza met Alexander at swanky West-London private members club Electric in Notting Hill, where they were introduced by a mutual friend.

They became engaged a year after meeting and Eliza introduced Alexander to her parents when they paid a visit to London in February 2020.

But due to the pandemic there was no chance for Alexander, 40, to meet them to seek her hand in marriage – promoting him to take a new approach to aristocratic tradition.

‘He video-called them,’ a friend told Shakespeare, ‘And asked them for their permission the week before he asked Eliza.’

After he was given parental approval he then whisked Eliza off for a weekend in Gloucestershire to propose.

The wedding will take place at Weston Park, the former family seat gifted to the nation after Alexander’s father, Richard, succeeded as 7th Earl — and was promptly saddled with crippling death duties.

According to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, the lavish bash will be costing half a million, with four parties to celebrate the occasion.

‘There’s a dinner on Thursday, a drinks party on Friday, a black-tie dinner for 190 on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday’, a source revealed.
